Meaning¶

ಇದು ಶಿವನ ಶಕ್ತಿಯನ್ನು ಮತ್ತು ಸೌಂದರ್ಯವನ್ನು ಎತ್ತಿ ತೋರಿಸುತ್ತದೆ. ಆತನ ಅಲಂಕಾರಗಳು ಮತ್ತು ಆತನ ಸುತ್ತಲಿನ ವಾತಾವರಣವು ಅದ್ಭುತ ಮತ್ತು ಆನಂದದಾಯಕವಾಗಿದೆ ಎಂದು ವರ್ಣಿಸುತ್ತದೆ.

ಯಾವ ಶಿವನ ಜಡೆಯೊಳಗೆ ಸರ್ಪಗಳು ಹೆಡೆ ಎತ್ತಿ ಆಡುತ್ತಿರುವಾಗ ಅವುಗಳ ಕೆಂಪಾದ ರತ್ನಗಳ ಪ್ರಭೆಯಿಂದ ದಿಕ್ಕುಗಳೆಂಬ ವಧುವಿನ ಮುಖವು ಕೇಸರಿ ನೀರಿನಿಂದ ತೊಯ್ದಂತೆ ಕಾಣುವುದೋ, ಮತ್ತೂ ಮದದಿಂದ ಕುರುಡಾದ ಆನೆಯ ಚರ್ಮವನ್ನು ಹೊದ್ದುಕೊಂಡಿರುವನೋ, ಅಂತಹ ಭೂತಗಳ ಒಡೆಯನಾದ ಶಿವನು ನನ್ನ ಮನಸ್ಸಿಗೆ ಆನಂದವನ್ನುಂಟುಮಾಡಲಿ.

ಈ ಶ್ಲೋಕವು ಶಿವನ ರೂಪವನ್ನು ವರ್ಣಿಸುತ್ತದೆ, ಅವನ ಜಟೆಯಲ್ಲಿರುವ ಸರ್ಪಗಳ ರತ್ನದ ಹೊಳಪಿನಿಂದ ದಿಕ್ಕುಗಳು ಬೆಳಗುವಂತೆ ಮತ್ತು ಆನೆಯ ಚರ್ಮವನ್ನು ಹೊದ್ದುಕೊಂಡಿರುವ ಶಿವನು ಮನಸ್ಸಿಗೆ ಆನಂದವನ್ನುಂಟುಮಾಡಲಿ ಎಂದು ಪ್ರಾರ್ಥಿಸುತ್ತದೆ.

ಶಿವನ ಜಟೆಯಲ್ಲಿರುವ ಸರ್ಪಗಳು ಹೆಡೆ ಎತ್ತಿ ಕುಣಿಯುತ್ತಿರುವಾಗ, ಅವುಗಳ ಫಣಾಮಣಿಯ ಕೆಂಪಾದ ಕಾಂತಿಯು ಎಲ್ಲಾ ದಿಕ್ಕುಗಳನ್ನೂ ಬೆಳಗುತ್ತದೆ. ಆ ಬೆಳಕು ದಿಕ್ಕುಗಳೆಂಬ ಸ್ತ್ರೀಯರ ಮುಖಕ್ಕೆ ಕೇಸರಿಯ ಬಣ್ಣವನ್ನು ಬಳಿದಂತೆ ಕಾಣುತ್ತದೆ. ಮದಿಸಿದ ಆನೆಯ ಚರ್ಮವನ್ನು ಮೇಲುವಸ್ತ್ರದಂತೆ ಹೊದ್ದಿರುವ ಶಿವನು ಭೂತಗಣಗಳ ಅಧಿಪತಿಯಾಗಿದ್ದು, ನನ್ನ ಮನಸ್ಸಿಗೆ ಆನಂದವನ್ನುಂಟುಮಾಡಲಿ.

It highlights Shiva’s power and beauty, emphasizing the wondrous and delightful nature of his adornments and the atmosphere surrounding him.

May that Shiva, the lord of the beings, whose matted hair is adorned with the reddish glow of the jewels on the hoods of the playing serpents, making the faces of the women of the directions appear as if smeared with saffron, and who wears the skin of a maddened elephant as an upper garment, bring joy to my mind.

This shloka describes Shiva’s appearance, focusing on the reddish glow from the jewels of the serpents in his hair illuminating the directions, and his wearing the elephant’s hide. It prays that Shiva brings joy to the mind.

Lord Shiva’s matted locks are the playground for serpents whose hoods are studded with rubies. The reddish glow of these rubies illuminates all directions, making the faces of the directional deities appear painted with saffron. He is draped in the hide of an intoxicated elephant. May that Lord Shiva, the master of all beings, delight my mind.

ದಿಕ್ಕುಗಳೆಂಬ ವಧುವಿನ ಮುಖವು ಕೇಸರಿಯಿಂದ ಲೇಪಿತವಾದಂತೆ.
