दक्षमर्दनोद्भवाय दण्डमुण्डमण्डनाय तस्मै ते नमोऽस्तु रुद्र रूपाय तस्मै ते नमः ॥

ದಕ್ಷಮರ್ದನೋದ್ಭವಾಯ ದಂಡಮುಂಡಮಂಡನಾಯ ತಸ್ಮೈ ತೇ ನಮೋ೽ಸ್ತು ರುದ್ರ ರೂಪಾಯ ತಸ್ಮೈ ತೇ ನಮಃ ॥

Meaning¶

ಈ ಶ್ಲೋಕವು ಶಿವನ ಶಕ್ತಿಯುತ ಮತ್ತು ವೈವಿಧ್ಯಮಯ ಸ್ವರೂಪಗಳನ್ನು ನೆನಪಿಸುತ್ತದೆ ಮತ್ತು ಅವನಿಗೆ ಭಕ್ತಿಯನ್ನು ತೋರಿಸುತ್ತದೆ.

ಯಕ್ಷನ ರೂಪವನ್ನು ಹೊಂದಿರುವ, ಜಟೆಯನ್ನು ಧರಿಸಿರುವ, ತ್ರಿಶೂಲವನ್ನು ಕೈಯಲ್ಲಿ ಹಿಡಿದಿರುವ, ಬ್ರಹ್ಮ ವಿಷ್ಣು ಮೊದಲಾದ ದೇವತೆಗಳಿಂದ ಪೂಜಿಸಲ್ಪಡುವ, ದಕ್ಷನ ಯಜ್ಞವನ್ನು ನಾಶಪಡಿಸಿದ, ರುಂಡಮಾಲೆಗಳಿಂದ ಅಲಂಕೃತನಾದ ರುದ್ರನ ರೂಪಕ್ಕೆ ನಮಸ್ಕಾರಗಳು.

ಈ ಶ್ಲೋಕವು ಶಿವನ ಯಕ್ಷ ಸ್ವರೂಪ, ಜಟಾಧಾರಿ, ಪಿನಾಕಧಾರಣೆ, ದೇವತೆಗಳಿಂದ ಪೂಜೆ, ದಕ್ಷಯಜ್ಞ ನಾಶ ಮತ್ತು ರುಂಡಮಾಲಾಧಾರಣೆಯನ್ನು ವಿವರಿಸುತ್ತದೆ ಮತ್ತು ರುದ್ರನಿಗೆ ನಮಸ್ಕಾರಗಳನ್ನು ಅರ್ಪಿಸುತ್ತದೆ.

यक्षस्वरूपाय	ಯಕ್ಷಸ್ವರೂಪಾಯ		yakṣasvarūpāya
ಯಕ್ಷನ ರೂಪವನ್ನು ಹೊಂದಿರುವವನು. ಯಕ್ಷನಂತೆ ಕಾಣುವವನು, ಒಂದು ದೈವಿಕ ರೂಪ.		Having the form of a Yaksha. One who embodies the form of a Yaksha, a type of celestial being.
जटाधराय	ಜಟಾಧರಾಯ		jaṭādharāya
ಜಟೆಯನ್ನು ಧರಿಸಿರುವವನು. ತಲೆಯ ಮೇಲೆ ಜಟೆಗಳನ್ನು ಹೊಂದಿರುವನು; ಇದು ತ್ಯಾಗ ಮತ್ತು ತಪಸ್ಸಿನ ಸಂಕೇತ.		Wearing matted hair. One who wears matted hair, symbolic of asceticism and detachment.
पिनाकिनः	ಪಿನಾಕಿನಃ		pinākinaḥ
ತ್ರಿಶೂಲವನ್ನು ಹೊಂದಿರುವವನು. ಪಿನಾಕ ಎಂಬ ತ್ರಿಶೂಲವನ್ನು ಹಿಡಿದಿರುವವನು, ಇದು ಶಿವನ ಒಂದು ಆಯುಧ.		Holder of the Pinaka. One who holds the Pinaka, the trident of Shiva, symbolizing power and destruction of evil.

ಕೈಯಲ್ಲಿ ಕಮಲವನ್ನು ಹೊಂದಿರುವ ವಿಷ್ಣು (ಪದ್ಮನಾಭ) ಮತ್ತು ಬ್ರಹ್ಮ (ಪದ್ಮಜ) ಮೊದಲಾದ ದೇವತೆಗಳಿಂದ ಪೂಜಿಸಲ್ಪಡುವ

Revered by gods like Vishnu (Padmanabha) who holds a lotus in his hand, and Brahma (Padmaja)

Meaning of Words¶

करस्थ	ಕರಸ್ಥ		karastha
ಕೈಯಲ್ಲಿರುವ. ಯಾರ ಕೈಯಲ್ಲಿ		In whose hand. Being in the hand of someone.
पद्मनाभ	ಪದ್ಮನಾಭ		padmanābha
ಕಮಲವನ್ನು ಹೊತ್ತಿರುವ ವಿಷ್ಣು. ಹೊಕ್ಕುಳಲ್ಲಿ ಕಮಲವನ್ನು ಹೊಂದಿರುವ ವಿಷ್ಣು.		Vishnu who has a lotus in his navel. Vishnu, from whose navel a lotus springs forth.
पद्मजादि	ಪದ್ಮಜಾದಿ		padmajādi
ಕಮಲದಿಂದ ಹುಟ್ಟಿದ ಬ್ರಹ್ಮ. ಕಮಲದಿಂದ ಜನಿಸಿದ ಬ್ರಹ್ಮ		Brahma born from a lotus. Brahma, who is born from the lotus that sprouts from Vishnu’s navel.
सुर्वराय	ಸುರ್ವರಾಯ		survarāya
ದೇವತೆಗಳಿಂದ ಪೂಜಿಸಲ್ಪಡುವ. ಎಲ್ಲಾ ದೇವತೆಗಳಿಂದಲೂ ಗೌರವಿಸಲ್ಪಡುವ		Revered by all gods. The one who is supremely revered by all gods.

दण्डमुण्डमण्डनाय	ದಂಡಮುಂಡಮಂಡನಾಯ		daṇḍamuṇḍamaṇḍanāya
ರುಂಡಮಾಲೆಗಳಿಂದ ಅಲಂಕೃತನಾದವನು. ತಲೆಬುರುಡೆಗಳ ಹಾರದಿಂದ ಅಲಂಕರಿಸಲ್ಪಟ್ಟವನು		Adorned with a garland of skulls. One who is decorated with a garland of skulls.

Meaning¶

ಆ ರುದ್ರನ ರೂಪಕ್ಕೆ ನನ್ನ ನಮಸ್ಕಾರಗಳು, ಆತನಿಗೆ ನನ್ನ ನಮಸ್ಕಾರಗಳು

To that form of Rudra, be my salutations, to him be my salutations.

Meaning of Words¶

तस्मै	ತಸ್ಮೈ		tasmai
ಅವನಿಗೆ. ಆ ವ್ಯಕ್ತಿಗೆ		To him. To that particular entity.
ते	ತೇ		te
ನಿಮಗೆ. ನಿಮ್ಮನ್ನು ಕುರಿತು		To you. Addressing you.
नमःऽस्तु	ನಮಃ ಅಸ್ತು		namo’stu
ನಮಸ್ಕಾರವಾಗಲಿ		Salutations. May there be salutations.
रुद्र रूपाय	ರುದ್ರ ರೂಪಾಯ		rudra rūpāya
ರುದ್ರನ ರೂಪಕ್ಕೆ. ರುದ್ರನ ಸ್ವರೂಪಕ್ಕೆ		To the form of Rudra. To the embodiment of Rudra.
तस्मै	ತಸ್ಮೈ		tasmai
ಅವನಿಗೆ. ಆತನಿಗೆ		To him. To that very entity.
ते	ತೇ		te
ನಿಮಗೆ. ನಿಮ್ಮನ್ನು		To you. Referring to you.
नमः	ನಮಃ		namaḥ
