ಜಟಾಕಟಾಹಸಂಭ್ರಮಭ್ರಮನ್ನಿಲಿಂಪನಿರ್ಝರೀ ವಿಲೋಲವೀಚಿವಲ್ಲರೀವಿರಾಜಮಾನಮಸ್ತಕೇ ।

ಧಗದ್ಧಗದ್ಧಗಜ್ಜ್ವಲಲ್ಲಲಾಟಪಟ್ಟಪಾವಕೇ ಕಿಶೋರಚಂದ್ರಶೇಖರೇ ರತಿಃ ಪ್ರತಿಕ್ಷಣಂ ಮಮ ॥

Meaning

ಇದು ಶಿವನ ಸೌಂದರ್ಯ ಮತ್ತು ಶಕ್ತಿಯನ್ನು ವರ್ಣಿಸುವ ಒಂದು ಸ್ತೋತ್ರ. ಇದು ಶಿವನ ಮೇಲಿನ ಭಕ್ತಿಯನ್ನು ವ್ಯಕ್ತಪಡಿಸುತ್ತದೆ.

ಯಾವ ಶಿವನ ಜಟಾಜೂಟದೊಳಗೆ ಗಂಗೆಯು ಅಲೆಗಳೊಂದಿಗೆ ಸುತ್ತುತ್ತಾ ವಿಹರಿಸುತ್ತಾಳೆ, ಮತ್ತು ಆ ಗಂಗೆಯು ಶಿವನ ತಲೆಯ ಮೇಲೆ ರಾರಾಜಿಸುತ್ತಾಳೆ,ಹಾಗೂ ಯಾರ ಹಣೆಯ ಮೇಲೆ ಧಗಧಗನೆ ಉರಿಯುತ್ತಿರುವ ಬೆಂಕಿಯಿದೆಯೋ,ಬಾಲಚಂದ್ರನನ್ನು ಧರಿಸಿರುವ ಆ ಶಿವನಲ್ಲಿ ನನ್ನ ಪ್ರೀತಿ ಸದಾ ಇರಲಿ.

ಈ ಶ್ಲೋಕವು ಶಿವನ ಜಟೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಗಂಗೆಯ ಹರಿವು, ಹಣೆಯ ಮೇಲಿನ ಬೆಂಕಿ ಮತ್ತು ತಲೆಯ ಮೇಲಿರುವ ಚಂದ್ರನನ್ನು ವರ್ಣಿಸುತ್ತದೆ. ಇಂತಹ ಶಿವನಲ್ಲಿ ಕವಿಗೆ ಸದಾ ಪ್ರೀತಿ ಇರಲಿ ಎಂದು ಹೇಳುತ್ತದೆ.

ಶಿವನ ಜಟೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಗಂಗೆಯು ವೇಗವಾಗಿ ಸುತ್ತುತ್ತಾಳೆ, ಆ ನೀರಿನ ಅಲೆಗಳು ಅವನ ತಲೆಯ ಮೇಲೆ ಸುಂದರವಾಗಿ ಕಾಣುತ್ತವೆ. ಅವನ ಹಣೆಯ ಮೇಲೆ ಧಗಧಗನೆ ಉರಿಯುವ ಬೆಂಕಿಯಿದೆ. ಬಾಲಚಂದ್ರನನ್ನು ತಲೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಧರಿಸಿರುವ ಆ ಶಿವನಲ್ಲಿ ನನ್ನ ಪ್ರೀತಿ ಪ್ರತಿ ಕ್ಷಣವೂ ಇರಲಿ.

It is a hymn describing the beauty and power of Shiva. It expresses devotion to Shiva.

My heart finds joy every moment in Lord Shiva, whose head is adorned with the flowing waves of the celestial river Ganga, swirling within his matted locks. Whose forehead blazes with the fire ‘dhag dhag dhag’, and who is adorned with the crescent moon.

This shloka describes the flow of the Ganges in Shiva’s hair, the fire on his forehead, and the moon on his head. It expresses the poet’s eternal love for such a Shiva.

In the tangled hair of Shiva, the Ganga wanders swiftly with its waves, adorning his head beautifully. On his forehead burns the fire ‘dhag dhag dhag’. I find joy every moment in that Shiva, who is adorned with the crescent moon.

ಯಾವ ಶಿವನ ಜಟಾಜೂಟದೊಳಗೆ ಗಂಗೆಯು ಅಲೆಗಳೊಂದಿಗೆ ಸುತ್ತುತ್ತಾ ವಿಹರಿಸುತ್ತಾಳೆ, ಮತ್ತು ಆ ಗಂಗೆಯು ಶಿವನ ತಲೆಯ ಮೇಲೆ ರಾರಾಜಿಸುತ್ತಾಳೆ.

जटा		ಜಟಾ		jaTā
ಜಡೆಗಳ ಗುಂಪು. ಶಿವನ ಜಡೆಗಳೆಂಬ ಗುಂಪು			Matted hair. The matted locks of hair belonging to Shiva.
कटाह		ಕಟಾಹ		kaTāha
ತೊಟ್ಟಿಲು. ಒಂದು ಬಟ್ಟಲಿನ ಆಕಾರದ ಅಥವಾ ಕುಳಿತುಕೊಳ್ಳುವ ಆಳವಾದ ಸ್ಥಳ.			Bowl. A bowl-shaped or deep hollow.
सम्भ्रम		ಸಂಭ್ರಮ		saṁbhrama
ತುಂಬಾ ದೊಡ್ಡ ಗೊಂದಲ			Confusion. Great confusion or agitation.
भ्रमन्		ಭ್ರಮನ್		bhraman
ಸುತ್ತುವುದು. ತಿರುಗುವುದು, ಸುತ್ತು ಹೊಡೆಯುವುದು			Wandering. Moving or revolving around.
निलिम्प		ನಿಲಿಂಪ		nilimpa
ದೇವತೆಗಳಿಗೆ ಸಂಬಂಧಿಸಿದ			Of the gods. Belonging to the gods, celestial.
निर्झरी		ನಿರ್ಝರೀ		nirjharī
ಝರಿಯಂತೆ ಹರಿಯುವ ಗಂಗಾ ನದಿ			River. The river Ganga, flowing like a stream.
विलोल		ವಿಲೋಲ		vilola
ಅಲುಗಾಡುವ. ಚಲಿಸುವ			Trembling. Moving, shaking.
वीचि		ವೀಚಿ		vīcī
ಗಂಗೆಯ ಅಲೆಗಳು			Waves. The waves of the Ganga river.
वल्लरी		ವಲ್ಲರೀ		vallarī
ಬಳ್ಳಿಯಂತೆ ಹರಿಯುವ ಅಲೆಗಳು			Creeper. Waves flowing like creepers.
विराजमान		ವಿರಾಜಮಾನ		virājamāna
ಶೋಭಿಸುವ. ಒಪ್ಪುವಂತೆ ಕಾಣುವ			Shining. Appearing graceful and shining.
मस्तके		ಮಸ್ತಕೆ		mastake
ಶಿವನ ತಲೆ			Head. The head of Shiva.

ಬಾಲಚಂದ್ರನನ್ನು ಧರಿಸಿರುವ ಆ ಶಿವನಲ್ಲಿ ನನ್ನ ಪ್ರೀತಿ ಸದಾ ಇರಲಿ.
