डमड्डमड्डमड्डमन्निनादवड्डमर्वयं चकार चण्डताण्डवं तनोतु शिवः शिवम् ॥

ಜಟಾಟವೀಗಲಜ್ಜಲಪ್ರವಾಹಪಾವಿತಸ್ಥಲೇ ಗಲೇಽವಲಂಬ್ಯ ಲಂಬಿತಾಂ ಭುಜಂಗತುಂಗಮಾಲಿಕಾಮ್ ।

ಡಮಡ್ಡಮಡ್ಡಮಡ್ಡಮನ್ನಿನಾದವಡ್ಡಮರ್ವಯಂ ಚಕಾರ ಚಂಡತಾಂಡವಂ ತನೋತು ಶಿವಃ ಶಿವಮ್ ॥

Meaning¶

ಈ ಶ್ಲೋಕವು ಶಿವನ ಶಕ್ತಿ, ಸೌಂದರ್ಯ ಮತ್ತು ಅವನ ಉಗ್ರ ಹಾಗೂ ಕರುಣಾಮಯಿ ಸ್ವಭಾವವನ್ನು ಎತ್ತಿ ತೋರಿಸುತ್ತದೆ. ಶಿವನು ಸೃಷ್ಟಿ ಮತ್ತು ವಿನಾಶದ ಸಂಕೇತ.

ಯಾವ ಶಿವನ ಜಟಾಜೂಟದ ಕಾಡಿನಿಂದ ಗಂಗೆಯ ಪ್ರವಾಹವು ಹರಿದು ಸ್ಥಳವನ್ನು ಪವಿತ್ರಗೊಳಿಸುತ್ತದೆಯೋ, ಮತ್ತು ಕುತ್ತಿಗೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ನೇತು ಹಾಕಲಾದ ಉದ್ದವಾದ ಸರ್ಪಗಳ ಹಾರವನ್ನು ಹೊಂದಿದ್ದಾನೋ, ಡಮರುಗದ ಡಮ ಡಮ ಎಂಬ ಧ್ವನಿಯಿಂದ ಪ್ರಪಂಚವನ್ನೇ ಸಂತೋಷಪಡಿಸಿದನೋ, ಆ ಚಂಡತಾಂಡವ ಸ್ವರೂಪನಾದ ಶಿವನು ನಮಗೆ ಶುಭವನ್ನುಂಟುಮಾಡಲಿ.

ಶಿವನ ಜಟೆಯಿಂದ ಹರಿಯುವ ಗಂಗೆಯಿಂದ ಪವಿತ್ರವಾದ ಸ್ಥಳ, ಕುತ್ತಿಗೆಗೆ ಸರ್ಪಗಳ ಹಾರ, ಡಮರುಗದಿಂದ ಆನಂದದ ನಾದ, ಉಗ್ರ ತಾಂಡವ ನೃತ್ಯ - ಈ ಶಿವನು ನಮಗೆ ಶುಭವನ್ನುಂಟುಮಾಡಲಿ.

ಈ ಶ್ಲೋಕವು ಶಿವನ ಉಗ್ರ ಮತ್ತು ಆನಂದದಾಯಕ ನೃತ್ಯವನ್ನು ವಿವರಿಸುತ್ತದೆ. ಶಿವನ ಜಟೆಯಲ್ಲಿರುವ ಗಂಗೆಯ ನೀರು ಪವಿತ್ರತೆಯನ್ನು ಹರಡುತ್ತದೆ. ಆತನು ತನ್ನ ಕುತ್ತಿಗೆಗೆ ಉದ್ದವಾದ ಹಾವುಗಳ ಹಾರವನ್ನು ಧರಿಸಿದ್ದಾನೆ. ಡಮರುಗದ ಸದ್ದಿನಿಂದ ಎಲ್ಲೆಡೆ ಆನಂದವು ತುಂಬಿ ತುಳುಕುತ್ತದೆ. ಆ ಶಿವನು ತನ್ನ ಚಂಡತಾಂಡವ ನೃತ್ಯದಿಂದ ನಮಗೆಲ್ಲರಿಗೂ ಒಳ್ಳೆಯದನ್ನು ಮಾಡಲಿ.

This verse highlights Shiva’s power, beauty, and his fierce yet compassionate nature. Shiva is a symbol of creation and destruction.

May that Shiva, whose abode is purified by the flow of water cascading from the forest of his matted hair, who has a long garland of snakes coiling around his neck, and who plays the damaru drum making the sound ‘damat damat damat,’ perform the fierce Tandava dance and bestow prosperity upon us.

The verse describes Shiva with the Ganges flowing from his hair, snakes around his neck, the sound of the Damaru drum, and his fierce Tandava dance, asking him to bestow auspiciousness.

This verse describes the intense and joyous dance of Shiva. The Ganges river flowing from his matted hair purifies the surroundings. He wears a long garland of snakes around his neck. The sound of his Damaru drum fills the world with joy. May that Shiva, through his fierce Tandava dance, bring auspiciousness to us all.

ಕುತ್ತಿಗೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ನೇತು ಹಾಕಲಾದ ಉದ್ದವಾದ ಸರ್ಪಗಳ ಹಾರವನ್ನು ಹೊಂದಿದ್ದಾನೋ.

Who has a long garland of lofty snakes coiling around his neck.

ಡಮರುಗದ ಡಮ ಡಮ ಎಂಬ ಧ್ವನಿಯಿಂದ ಇಡೀ ಜಗತ್ತನ್ನೇ ಸಂತೋಷಪಡಿಸಿದ.

ಉಗ್ರವಾದ ತಾಂಡವ ನೃತ್ಯವನ್ನು ಮಾಡುವ ಶಿವನು, ನಮಗೆ ಶುಭವನ್ನುಂಟುಮಾಡಲಿ.

May Shiva, who performs the fierce Tandava dance, bestow auspiciousness upon us.

ಉಗ್ರವಾದ ತಾಂಡವ. ಭಯಾನಕ ಮತ್ತು ಶಕ್ತಿಯುತ ನೃತ್ಯ		Fierce Tandava. The vigorous and powerful dance of Shiva.
तनोतु	ತನೋತು		tanotu
ಮಾಡಲಿ. ವಿಸ್ತರಿಸಲಿ		Perform. To execute or carry out.
शिवः	ಶಿವಃ		śivaḥ
ಶಿವನು. ಶುಭವನ್ನು ಕೊಡುವವನು		Shiva. The auspicious one.
