जटाटवीगलज्जलप्रवाहपावितस्थले गलेऽवलम्ब्य लम्बितां भुजङ्गतुङ्गमालिकाम् ।

डमड्डमड्डमड्डमन्निनादवड्डमर्वयं चकार चण्डताण्डवं तनोतु शिवः शिवम् ॥

ಜಟಾಟವೀಗಲಜ್ಜಲಪ್ರವಾಹಪಾವಿತಸ್ಥಲೇ ಗಲೇಽವಲಂಬ್ಯ ಲಂಬಿತಾಂ ಭುಜಂಗತುಂಗಮಾಲಿಕಾಮ್ ।

ಡಮಡ್ಡಮಡ್ಡಮಡ್ಡಮನ್ನಿನಾದವಡ್ಡಮರ್ವಯಂ ಚಕಾರ ಚಂಡತಾಂಡವಂ ತನೋತು ಶಿವಃ ಶಿವಮ್ ॥

Meaning

ಈ ಶ್ಲೋಕವು ಶಿವನ ಜಟಾಜೂಟದಲ್ಲಿ ಹರಿಯುವ ಗಂಗಾ ನದಿಯ ವೈಭವ, ಕೊರಳಲ್ಲಿ ಹಾವಿನ ಹಾರ, ಮತ್ತು ಡಮರುಗದಿಂದ ಉಂಟಾಗುವ ನಾದದೊಂದಿಗೆ ಆತನು ಮಾಡುವ ಚಂಡತಾಂಡವ ನೃತ್ಯದ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ವರ್ಣಿಸುತ್ತದೆ. ಶಿವನು ಮಂಗಳವನ್ನುಂಟುಮಾಡಲಿ ಎಂದು ಪ್ರಾರ್ಥಿಸಲಾಗಿದೆ.

ಯಾವ ಶಿವನ ಜಟಾಜೂಟದಿಂದ ಗಂಗಾ ನದಿಯ ಪ್ರವಾಹವು ಹರಿದು, ಆ ನೀರಿನಿಂದ ಪವಿತ್ರವಾದ ಸ್ಥಳವು ಅವನ ಕೊರಳನ್ನು ಆವರಿಸಿದೆಯೋ, ಮತ್ತು ಯಾವ ಶಿವನು ಉದ್ದವಾದ ಹಾವಿನ ಹಾರವನ್ನು ಕೊರಳಲ್ಲಿ ಧರಿಸಿದ್ದಾನೋ, ಡಮರುಗದ ಡಮ ಡಮ ಎಂಬ ನಾದದಿಂದ ದಿಕ್ಕುಗಳನ್ನು ಪ್ರತಿಧ್ವನಿಸುವಂತೆ ಮಾಡಿದನೋ, ಆ ಚಂಡತಾಂಡವ ಸ್ವರೂಪಿ ಶಿವನು ನಮಗೆ ಮಂಗಳವನ್ನುಂಟುಮಾಡಲಿ.

ಇದು ಶಿವನ ಶಕ್ತಿಯನ್ನು, ಸೌಂದರ್ಯವನ್ನು, ಮತ್ತು ಆತನ ನೃತ್ಯದ ವೈಭವವನ್ನು ಎತ್ತಿ ತೋರಿಸುತ್ತದೆ. ಶಿವನು ಸೃಷ್ಟಿ, ಸ್ಥಿತಿ, ಮತ್ತು ಲಯದ ಸಂಕೇತ. ಆತನನ್ನು ಪೂಜಿಸುವುದರಿಂದ ಮಂಗಳವಾಗುತ್ತದೆ ಎಂಬ ನಂಬಿಕೆ ಇದೆ.

This shloka describes the glory of Lord Shiva, with the Ganges flowing through his matted hair, the garland of snakes around his neck, and the fierce Tandava dance accompanied by the sound of the damaru. It prays for Shiva to bestow auspiciousness.

May that Shiva, whose matted hair is washed by the flow of the Ganges river, whose neck is adorned by a long garland of snakes, and who plays the damaru drum, filling the directions with the sound ‘damat damat damat,’ perform the fierce Tandava dance and bestow auspiciousness upon us.

It highlights Shiva’s power, beauty, and the magnificence of his dance. Shiva symbolizes creation, preservation, and destruction. It is believed that worshipping him brings auspiciousness.
