मनोबुद्ध्यहङ्कारचित्तानि नाहं

न च श्रोत्रजिह्वे न च घ्राणनेत्रे ।

न च व्योम भूमिर्न तेजो न वायुः

चिदानन्दरूपः शिवोऽहं शिवोऽहम् ॥

Meaning

यह श्लोक ‘निर्वाण षट्कम’ से है, जिसमें आदि शंकराचार्य अपनी वास्तविक पहचान बताते हैं। वे कहते हैं कि वे मन, बुद्धि, अहंकार, चित्त, इंद्रियां और पंचमहाभूत नहीं हैं। वे चैतन्य और आनंद स्वरूप शिव हैं, जो उनकी वास्तविक प्रकृति है।

मैं मन, बुद्धि, अहंकार और चित्त नहीं हूँ। मैं न तो कान, जीभ, नाक और आँखें हूँ। मैं न तो आकाश हूँ, न पृथ्वी, न अग्नि और न ही वायु। मैं चैतन्य और आनंद स्वरूप शिव हूँ, शिव हूँ।

इस श्लोक का महत्व यह है कि यह हमें अपनी भौतिक पहचान से परे जाने और अपनी वास्तविक आध्यात्मिक पहचान को पहचानने के लिए प्रेरित करता है। यह हमें यह समझने में मदद करता है कि हम केवल शरीर और मन नहीं हैं, बल्कि हम अनंत चेतना का हिस्सा हैं।

This shloka is from ‘Nirvana Shatkam’, in which Adi Shankaracharya reveals his true identity. He states that he is not the mind, intellect, ego, memory, senses, or the five elements. He is Shiva, the form of consciousness and bliss, which is his true nature.
