இந்த ஸ்லோகம், எளிய ஆனால் உண்மையான பக்தி மற்றும் தானத்தின் செயல்களிலிருந்து பெறப்படும் மகத்தான ஆன்மீக நன்மைகளை வலியுறுத்துகிறது. ஒரு வில்வ இலையை சிவனுக்குச் சமர்ப்பிப்பது போன்ற ஒரு சிறிய காணிக்கை அல்லது ஒரு பிராமணருக்கு சாலிகிராமக் கல்லைப் போன்ற ஒரு தானம், சோமயாகம் போன்ற ஒரு சிக்கலான மற்றும் விலை உயர்ந்த சடங்கைச் செய்வதற்கு ஒப்பான பெரும் மதப் புண்ணியத்தைக் கொண்டுவரும் என்று இது எடுத்துக்காட்டுகிறது.

ஒரு சாலிகிராமக் கல்லை பிராமணர்களுக்கு தானம் செய்தால், அது சோமயாகம் என்ற பெரிய யாகத்தின் பெரும் புண்ணியத்திற்கு சமமாகும். ஒரு வில்வ இலையை சிவனுக்கு அர்ப்பணிப்பதும் மிகுந்த புண்ணியத்தை தரும்.
