Meaning / Summary¶

આ શ્લોક ભગવાન શિવની મહાનતા અને તેમના અસાધારણ સ્વરૂપનું વર્ણન કરે છે. તેનું પઠન કરવાથી શાંતિ અને આધ્યાત્મિક શક્તિ મળે છે.

હું ભગવાન શિવને નમન કરું છું, જે સાપોના રાજાને હાર તરીકે પહેરે છે, જે ત્રણ આંખોવાળા છે, જેમના શરીર પર ભસ્મ લગાવેલું છે, જે મહાન ભગવાન છે, જે શાશ્વત અને શુદ્ધ છે, અને જે દિગંબર છે (જેમણે આકાશને પોતાના વસ્ત્રો તરીકે પહેર્યું છે). હું ‘ન’ અક્ષર સ્વરૂપ ભગવાન શિવને નમન કરું છું.

Meaning¶

જે સાપોના રાજાને હાર તરીકે પહેરે છે, ત્રણ આંખોવાળા.

To the one who wears the king of snakes as a garland, the three-eyed one.

Meaning of Words¶

नागेन्द्रहाराय	નાગેન્દ્રહારાય		Nāgendrahārāya
નાગોના રાજાનો હાર પહેરનાર નાગ એટલે સાપ અને ઇન્દ્ર એટલે રાજા. નાગેન્દ્ર એટલે સાપોનો રાજા (અહીં વાસુકી નાગ). હારાય એટલે હાર પહેરનાર.		One who wears a garland of the king of snakes Naga means snake and Indra means king. Nagendra means king of snakes (here, Vasuki). Haraya means one who wears a garland.
त्रिलोचनाय	ત્રિલોચનાય		Trilocanāya
ત્રિ એટલે ત્રણ, લોચન એટલે આંખ. ત્રિલોચન એટલે ત્રણ આંખોવાળા (ભગવાન શિવ).		The one with three eyes Tri means three, lochana means eye. Trilochan means the one with three eyes (Lord Shiva).

Meaning¶

જેમના શરીર પર ભસ્મ લગાવેલું છે, મહાન ભગવાન.

Whose body is covered in ashes, to the great Lord.

Meaning of Words¶

भस्माङ्गरागाय	ભસ્માંગરાગાય		Bhasmāngarāgāya
ભસ્મ એટલે રાખ, અંગ એટલે શરીર, રાગ એટલે લગાવવું. ભસ્માંગરાગાય એટલે ભસ્મથી સુશોભિત શરીરવાળા.		One whose body is adorned with ashes Bhasma means ash, anga means body, raga means adorned. Bhasmangaragaya means one whose body is adorned with ashes.
महेश्वराय	મહેશ્વરાય		Maheshwarāya
મહા એટલે મહાન, ઈશ્વર એટલે ભગવાન. મહેશ્વર એટલે મહાન ભગવાન.		Maha means great, Ishvara means Lord. Maheshwara means Great Lord.

જે શાશ્વત, શુદ્ધ અને દિગંબર છે.

To the eternal, pure, and Digambara (sky-clad) one.

Meaning of Words¶

नित्याय	નિત્યાય		Nityāya
નિત્ય એટલે હંમેશા રહેનાર, શાશ્વત.		Eternal Nitya means always existing, eternal.
शुद्धाय	શુદ્ધાય		Shuddhāya
શુદ્ધ એટલે પવિત્ર.		Pure Shuddha means pure, unblemished.
दिगम्बराय	દિગંબરાય		Digambarāya
દિગ એટલે દિશા (આકાશ), અંબર એટલે વસ્ત્ર. દિગંબર એટલે જેણે આકાશને વસ્ત્ર તરીકે પહેર્યું છે (જે નિર્વસ્ત્ર છે).		Dik means direction (sky), ambara means garment. Digambara means one who has the sky as his garment (naked).

તે ‘ન’ અક્ષર સ્વરૂપ ભગવાન શિવને નમન.

તેમને, તે ભગવાન શિવને.		To that one, to that Lord Shiva.
नकाराय	નકારાય		Nakārāya
નકારાય એટલે ‘ન’ અક્ષર સ્વરૂપ (શિવના નામનો પહેલો અક્ષર).		Form of the letter ‘Na’ Nakaraya means the form of the letter ‘Na’ (the first letter of Shiva’s name).
नमः	નમઃ		Namah
નમઃ એટલે નમન, પ્રણામ.		Salutations Namah means salutations, obeisance.
शिवाय	શિવાય		Shivāya
શિવાય એટલે ભગવાન શિવને.		To Shiva Shivaya means to Lord Shiva.
