Meaning / Summary

This shloka highlights the universal appeal of Lord Rama, even to the most elevated beings. It emphasizes the importance of devotion and the desire to purify one’s heart by inviting the divine presence within, ultimately leading to the destruction of negative tendencies.

Thus speaks Tulsidas, (O Rama,) You delight Shiva (Shankar), Shesha, and the sages. Please reside in the lotus of my heart and destroy desires, anger, and the host of wicked enemies.

Tulsidas says that Lord Rama delights Shiva, Shesha, and the sages. He prays to Rama to reside in his heart and destroy negative qualities.

In this verse, Tulsidas expresses his devotion to Lord Rama. He states that even great beings like Lord Shiva, Shesha (the serpent on whom Vishnu rests), and the sages find joy and solace in Rama. He humbly requests Rama to make his heart, likened to a lotus, His abode, and to vanquish the internal enemies like desires, anger, and other negative qualities that hinder spiritual progress.
