Meaning / Summary

இந்த ஸ்லோகம் துர்கா தேவியின் சக்தியையும் கருணையையும் எடுத்துரைக்கிறது. மகிஷாசுரனை அழித்து உலகை காப்பாற்றிய அவளின் வீரத்தை போற்றுகிறது.

மலை அரசனின் மகளே, உலகை மகிழ்விப்பவளே, எல்லோராலும் வணங்கப்படுபவளே, உயர்ந்த விந்திய மலையில் வசிப்பவளே, திருமாலின் விளையாட்டுத் தோழியே, இந்திரனால் துதிக்கப்படுபவளே, சிவனின் குடும்பத்தை சேர்ந்தவளே, பல கைகளை உடையவளே, சாம்பலை அணிந்தவளே, மகிஷாசுரனை அழித்தவளே, அழகான சடையை உடையவளே, உனக்கு ஜெயம் ஜெயம் உண்டாகட்டும்.

துர்கா தேவியை புகழ்ந்து பாடும் பாடல். மலை அரசனின் மகளே, உலகை மகிழ்விப்பவளே, எல்லோராலும் வணங்கப்படுபவளே, மகிஷாசுரனை அழித்தவளே உனக்கு ஜெயம் உண்டாகட்டும் என போற்றப்படுகிறது.

இந்த ஸ்லோகம் தேவி துர்காவை போற்றிப் புகழ்கிறது. மலைகளின் அரசனான இமயமலையின் மகளே! உன் அழகாலும் கருணையாலும் இந்த உலகை சந்தோஷத்தில் ஆழ்த்துகிறாய். எல்லோரும் உன்னை வணங்குகிறார்கள். விந்திய மலையின் உச்சியில் உனது இருப்பிடம் உள்ளது. நீ திருமாலின் விளையாட்டுத் தோழி. தேவர்களின் தலைவனான இந்திரனால் நீ துதிக்கப்படுகிறாய். சிவபெருமானின் குடும்பத்தை சேர்ந்தவளே! நீ பல கைகளை கொண்டு அடியார்களுக்கு அருள் புரிகிறாய். திருநீற்றை அணிந்து பக்தர்களைக் காக்கிறாய். மகிஷாசுரனை அழித்த தாயே! அழகிய சடையை உடைய மலையின் மகளே! உனக்கு ஜெயம் உண்டாகட்டும், ஜெயம் உண்டாகட்டும்.

மகிஷாசுரன் என்ற அரக்கன் தேவர்களை துன்புறுத்தியதால், துர்கா தேவி அவனை வதம் செய்து உலகை காப்பாற்றினார். இந்த ஸ்லோகம் அந்த நிகழ்வை நினைவு கூர்கிறது.
