तव विमलेन्दु कुलं वदनेन्दुमलं सकल नयन अनुकूलायते
किमु पुरुहूत पुरन्दर मुखी सुमुखीभिरसौ विमुखी क्रियते
मम तु मतं शिव नाम धने भवति कृपया किमुत न क्रियते
जय जय हे महिषासुरमर्दिनि रम्यकपर्दिनि शैलसुते ॥

kimu puruhūta purandara mukhī sumukhībhirasau vimukhī kriyate

यह श्लोक देवी दुर्गा के प्रति भक्ति और समर्पण को दर्शाता है। यह विश्वास व्यक्त करता है कि देवी अपने भक्तों पर अवश्य कृपा करती हैं, खासकर उन पर जो शिव के नाम का जाप करते हैं।
हे महिषासुर मर्दिनी, रम्य कपर्दिनि, शैलसुते! आपके निर्मल चन्द्रमा के समान मुख की कान्ति सब नेत्रों को आनंदित करती है। क्या इन्द्र आदि देवताओं की सुंदर मुख वाली पत्नियों द्वारा आपका तिरस्कार किया जा रहा है? मेरी तो यह राय है कि जिनका धन शिव का नाम है, उन पर क्या आपकी कृपा नहीं होगी? हे माँ, आपकी जय हो, जय हो!
इस श्लोक में देवी दुर्गा की सुंदरता और महिमा का वर्णन है। भक्त देवी से पूछते हैं कि क्या इंद्र आदि देवताओं की पत्नियाँ उनसे ईर्ष्या करती हैं, परन्तु भक्त का मानना है कि देवी उन पर अवश्य कृपा करेंगी जिनके पास शिव के नाम का धन है।
हे महिषासुर का मर्दन करने वाली, सुन्दर जटाजूट धारण करने वाली, पर्वतराज हिमालय की पुत्री! आपके चन्द्रमा के समान निर्मल मुख की आभा सभी की आँखों को सुख प्रदान करती है। क्या इन्द्र आदि देवताओं की सुंदर मुख वाली पत्नियाँ आपसे ईर्ष्या करती हैं, और क्या वे आपका तिरस्कार कर रही हैं? परन्तु मेरा मानना है कि जिस व्यक्ति के पास शिव के नाम का धन है, क्या उस पर आपकी कृपा नहीं होगी? निश्चित रूप से होगी। हे माँ, आपकी जय हो, जय हो!
This shloka demonstrates devotion and surrender to Goddess Durga. It expresses the belief that the Goddess will surely bestow her grace on her devotees, especially those who chant the name of Shiva.
O Mahishasura Mardini, adorned with beautiful braided hair, daughter of the mountains! The radiance of your spotless moon-like face brings joy to all eyes. Is it that the beautiful-faced wives of Indra and other gods are turning away from you? But it is my belief, that will you not shower your grace on those whose wealth is the name of Shiva? Victory, victory to you, O Mother!
This shloka describes the beauty and glory of Goddess Durga. The devotee asks if the wives of Indra and other gods are jealous of her, but the devotee believes that the Goddess will surely bestow her grace on those who possess the wealth of Shiva’s name.
Oh, destroyer of the demon Mahishasura, adorned with beautiful matted hair, daughter of the Himalayas! The radiant glow of your pure, moon-like face pleases the eyes of all. Is it possible that the beautiful-faced wives of gods like Indra are turning away from you, perhaps out of jealousy or arrogance? But I believe that you will certainly bestow your grace on those who possess the wealth of Shiva’s name. Victory, victory to you, O Mother!
