यह श्लोक माँ दुर्गा की शक्ति, सौंदर्य और उनके द्वारा बुराई पर विजय का प्रतीक है। इसका पाठ करने से साहस और सुरक्षा की भावना आती है।

हे महिषासुर मर्दिनी, रणभूमि में धनुष की टंकार से युद्ध के क्षणों में देदीप्यमान अंगों वाली, झुकी हुई योद्धा माँ, स्वर्ण के रंग के बाणों से भरे हुए तरकश से बाण निकालने वाली, भयंकर योद्धाओं के समूहों को मारने वाली माँ, पृथ्वी ही जिसका रण आभूषण है, दिव्य वस्त्रों वाली, नए मधुमक्खियों के झुण्ड से प्रतिबिम्बित वन-लताओं से सुशोभित, हे रमणीय जटाओं वाली पर्वतपुत्री, तुम्हारी जय हो, जय हो!

इस श्लोक में महिषासुर मर्दिनी दुर्गा माँ की युद्धभूमि में उनकी शक्ति और सौंदर्य का वर्णन है।

इस श्लोक में माँ दुर्गा के उस रूप का वर्णन है, जब वे महिषासुर का वध करने के लिए युद्धभूमि में उतरी थीं। उनके धनुष की टंकार से युद्ध का वातावरण गूंज रहा है और उनके अंग युद्ध के उत्साह से चमक रहे हैं। वे अपने तरकश से सुनहरे रंग के बाण निकालती हैं और भयंकर योद्धाओं के समूह को मार गिराती हैं। पृथ्वी ही उनका रण आभूषण है, यानि वे पृथ्वी की रक्षा के लिए ही युद्ध कर रही हैं। उनके वस्त्र दिव्य हैं और वे वन-लताओं से सुशोभित हैं, जिन पर मधुमक्खियों के झुण्ड मंडरा रहे हैं। हे रमणीय जटाओं वाली पर्वतपुत्री (हिमालय की पुत्री), महिषासुर का नाश करने वाली माँ दुर्गा, तुम्हारी जय हो, जय हो!
