Meaning / Summary

This shloka is a humble prayer to Hanuman, seeking his blessings for intellectual and spiritual growth, and relief from worldly sufferings. It highlights the importance of humility and the power of devotion in overcoming one’s limitations.

Realizing myself to be lacking in intelligence, I remember Hanuman, the son of the wind god. Please grant me strength, wisdom, and knowledge, and remove all my sorrows and blemishes.

Acknowledging my lack of intelligence, I remember Hanuman and request strength, wisdom, knowledge, and freedom from suffering.

The devotee acknowledges their own lack of wisdom and understanding. They then turn to Hanuman, referred to as ‘Pawan-Kumar’ (son of the wind god), seeking his blessings. The plea is for Hanuman to bestow strength (physical and mental), wisdom (the ability to discern right from wrong), and knowledge (understanding of the world and scriptures). Finally, the devotee asks Hanuman to remove all forms of suffering, pain, and impurities from their life.
