This shloka reveals the supreme and transcendental nature of Lord Krishna. It emphasizes that His existence is not bound by the causality that governs the material world. Even the most enlightened beings, like gods and great sages, cannot fathom His ultimate source because He is the primal cause of all existence, including their own. This highlights His divinity and uniqueness as the Supreme Being.

Neither the hosts of gods, nor the great sages know My origin. For I am the origin of all the gods and the great sages in every respect.

Lord Krishna states that neither the gods nor the great sages understand His origin, as He is the ultimate source of all beings, including them.

In this verse, Lord Krishna asserts His absolute supremacy and unique position in the cosmos. He declares that even the most revered beings, such as the celestial deities (Suraganas) and the great sages (Maharshayah), who possess profound spiritual knowledge and cosmic insight, are incapable of fully comprehending His origin. The reason for this incomprehension is His inherent nature as the ultimate source (Adi) of all existence. He is not a product of creation but the progenitor of all creation, including the gods and sages themselves. Therefore, their understanding of Him is limited, as they are His creations. He is the beginning, the middle, and the end of everything. This statement underscores His transcendental reality, which lies beyond the grasp of finite intellects and material causality. He is the uncaused cause, the self-existent reality from whom all energies and beings emanate.
