संन्यासं कर्मणां कृष्ण पुनर्योगं च शंससि ।
यच्छ्रेय एतयोरेकं तन्मे ब्रूहि सुनिश्चितम् ॥

సన్న్యాసం కర్మణాం కృష్ణ పునర్యోగం చ శంససి ।
యచ్ఛ్రేయ ఏతయోరేకం తన్మే బ్రూహి సునిశ్చితమ్ ॥

Meaning / Summary¶
ఈ శ్లోకం భగవద్గీతలో ఒక ముఖ్యమైన ప్రశ్నను లేవనెత్తుతుంది. కర్మలను విడిచిపెట్టాలా లేక కర్మలను చేస్తూనే మోక్షం పొందవచ్చా అనే సందేహాన్ని అర్జునుడు కృష్ణుడి ముందుంచుతాడు. ఇది సన్యాసం మరియు కర్మ యోగం యొక్క ప్రాముఖ్యతను తెలుసుకోవడానికి సహాయపడుతుంది.
అర్జునుడు ఇలా అన్నాడు: కృష్ణా, నీవు కర్మల సన్యాసాన్ని (కర్మలను విడిచిపెట్టడం) మరియు యోగాన్ని (కర్మలను ఆచరించడం) రెండింటినీ పొగుడుతున్నావు. ఈ రెండింటిలో ఏది శ్రేయస్కరమో నాకు నిశ్చయంగా తెలుపుము.
అర్జునుడు కృష్ణుడిని కర్మ సన్యాసం మరియు కర్మ యోగం గురించి అడుగుతాడు, ఈ రెండింటిలో ఏది ఉత్తమమైనదో చెప్పమని కోరుతాడు.
అర్జునుడు శ్రీకృష్ణుడిని ప్రశ్నిస్తూ, “ఓ కృష్ణా, నీవు ఒకవైపు కర్మలను విడిచిపెట్టమని సన్యాసాన్ని ప్రశంసిస్తున్నావు, మరోవైపు కర్మలను ఆచరిస్తూ యోగమార్గంలో ఉండమని చెబుతున్నావు. ఈ రెండు మార్గాలలో ఏది నాకు నిజంగా మేలు చేస్తుందో, దేనిని అనుసరించడం ద్వారా నేను మోక్షాన్ని పొందుతానో నిశ్చయంగా తెలుపు” అని అడుగుతున్నాడు.
This verse raises a fundamental question in the Bhagavad Gita regarding the relative merits of renunciation and action. Arjuna seeks clarity on whether it is better to renounce all actions or to perform actions while remaining detached. This sets the stage for Krishna to explain the path of Karma Yoga.
Arjuna said: O Krishna, You praise the renunciation of actions and also the performance of actions. Tell me definitely which one is more beneficial of these two.
Arjuna asks Krishna about the renunciation of actions (Sannyasa) and the path of action (Karma Yoga), requesting him to clarify which one is superior.
Arjuna addresses Krishna, stating that Krishna is advocating both renunciation of actions (Sannyasa) and the path of action (Yoga). He asks Krishna to definitively tell him which of the two paths is truly superior for him to follow and attain liberation.
