स एवायं मया तेऽद्य योगः प्रोक्तः पुरातनः ।

भक्तोऽसि मे सखा चेति रहस्यं ह्येतदुत्तमम् ॥

స ఏవాయం మయా తేఽద్య యోగః ప్రోక్తః పురాతనః

sa evāyam mayā te’dya yogaḥ proktaḥ purātanaḥ

Meaning / Summary¶

ఈ శ్లోకం యోగ యొక్క పురాతనత్వాన్ని మరియు దాని యొక్క నిరంతరాయ ప్రాముఖ్యతను నొక్కి చెబుతుంది.

నేను నీకు ఈ రోజే చెప్పిన ఈ యోగం చాలా పురాతనమైనది.

శ్రీకృష్ణుడు అర్జునుడితో, తాను ఉపదేశిస్తున్న యోగం పురాతనమైనదని చెప్పెను.

అర్జునా! నేను నీకు ఇప్పుడు ఉపదేశించిన ఈ యోగం కొత్తది కాదు. ఇది చాలా పురాతనమైనది. పూర్వం ఎప్పుడో సూర్యునికి కూడా దీని గురించి చెప్పాను. ఆ యోగమే ఇప్పుడు నీకు చెబుతున్నాను.

This verse emphasizes the antiquity of Yoga and its continuous importance.

That same ancient Yoga I have today declared unto you.

Krishna tells Arjuna that the Yoga he is teaching is ancient.

Arjuna, the Yoga that I am teaching you today is not new. This is the same ancient Yoga that I taught to Vivasvan (the Sun god) long ago. I am revealing that same Yoga to you now.
