ज्यायसी चेत्कर्मणस्ते मता बुद्धिर्जनार्दन ।

तत्किं कर्मणि घोरे मां नियोजयसि केशव ॥

జ్యాయసీ చేత్‌కర్మణస్తే మతా బుద్ధిర్జనార్దన ।

తత్కిం కర్మణి ఘోరే మాం నియోజయసి కేశవ ॥

Meaning / Summary¶

ఈ శ్లోకం కర్మ మరియు జ్ఞానం యొక్క ప్రాముఖ్యత గురించి అర్జునుడి సందేహాన్ని తెలియజేస్తుంది. దీని ద్వారా భగవద్గీతలో కర్మయోగం యొక్క ప్రాధాన్యతను కృష్ణుడు వివరిస్తాడు.

అర్జునుడు ఇలా అన్నాడు: జనార్దనా, కర్మ కంటే బుద్ధి గొప్పదని నీ అభిప్రాయమైతే, ఓ కేశవా, నన్ను ఈ భయంకరమైన కర్మలో ఎందుకు నియోగిస్తున్నావు?

అర్జునుడు కృష్ణుడిని, కర్మ కంటే బుద్ధి గొప్పదని భావిస్తే, యుద్ధం చేయమని ఎందుకు ప్రోత్సహిస్తున్నావని ప్రశ్నిస్తాడు.

అర్జునుడు శ్రీకృష్ణుడితో ఇలా అంటున్నాడు: ఓ జనార్దనా (శ్రీకృష్ణా), నీవు కర్మ కంటే బుద్ధి గొప్పదని భావిస్తే, నన్ను ఈ ఘోరమైన యుద్ధ కర్మలో ఎందుకు నియోగిస్తున్నావు? బుద్ధి జ్ఞానాన్ని ఇస్తుందని, కర్మ బంధానికి కారణమవుతుందని నీవు భావిస్తే, నన్ను యుద్ధం చేయమని ఎందుకు ప్రోత్సహిస్తున్నావు? నేను జ్ఞానమార్గం ద్వారా మోక్షం పొందడానికి ప్రయత్నించవచ్చు కదా?

This verse highlights Arjuna’s confusion regarding the relative importance of action and knowledge, setting the stage for Krishna’s explanation of Karma Yoga in the Bhagavad Gita.

Arjuna said: O Janardana, if you consider that intelligence is superior to action, then why are you engaging me in this terrible action, O Keshava?

Arjuna questions Krishna, asking why he is being urged to engage in war if intelligence is considered superior to action.

Arjuna addresses Krishna, stating that if Krishna believes intelligence (wisdom, knowledge) is superior to action (karma), then why is Krishna urging Arjuna to engage in this dreadful act of war? If intelligence leads to knowledge and liberation, while action leads to bondage, why is Arjuna being encouraged to fight instead of pursuing the path of knowledge for salvation?

ఓ కేశవా, నన్ను ఈ భయంకరమైన కర్మలో ఎందుకు నియోగిస్తున్నావు?

Then why are you engaging me in this terrible action, O Keshava?
