कुतस्त्वा कश्मलमिदं विषमे समुपस्थितम् ।

अनार्यजुष्टमस्वर्ग्यमकीर्तिकरमर्जुन ॥

కుతస్త్వా కశ్మలమిదం విషమే సముపస్థితమ్ ।

అనార్యజుష్టమస్వర్గ్యమకీర్తిక‌రమర్జున ॥

Meaning / Summary¶

ఈ శ్లోకం అర్జునుడి నిరుత్సాహాన్ని ఖండిస్తూ, ధైర్యంగా ఉండమని ప్రోత్సహిస్తుంది. ఇది కర్తవ్యాన్ని విస్మరించకుండా, కీర్తిని పొందమని చెబుతుంది.

శ్రీ భగవానుడు ఇలా అన్నారు: అర్జునా! ఈ క్లిష్ట సమయంలో నీకు ఈ నిరుత్సాహం ఎందుకు కలిగింది? ఇది ఆర్యులకు తగనిది, స్వర్గాన్ని ఇవ్వనిది మరియు అపకీర్తిని తెస్తుంది.

శ్రీకృష్ణుడు అర్జునుడిని ఈ కష్ట సమయంలో నీకు ఈ నిరుత్సాహం ఎలా వచ్చిందని ప్రశ్నిస్తాడు. ఇది ఆర్యులకు తగనిది, స్వర్గాన్ని ఇవ్వనిది మరియు అపకీర్తిని తెస్తుందని అంటాడు.

శ్రీకృష్ణుడు అర్జునుడితో ఇలా అంటున్నాడు: అర్జునా, యుద్ధం యొక్క ఈ సంక్లిష్ట సమయంలో, శత్రువులు ఎదురుగా ఉన్నప్పుడు, నీకు ఈ బలహీనమైన మరియు నిరుత్సాహపూరితమైన ఆలోచనలు ఎందుకు వచ్చాయి? ఇది గొప్పవారైన ఆర్యుల మార్గం కాదు. ఇది నీకు స్వర్గాన్ని ఇవ్వదు, పైగా కీర్తిని కూడా తీసుకురాదు. ఇలాంటి ఆలోచనలు నీకు తగవు.

This verse condemns Arjuna’s despondency and encourages him to be courageous. It emphasizes the importance of fulfilling one’s duty and gaining glory.

The Blessed Lord said: Arjuna, how has this dejection come upon you in this difficult hour? It is unbefitting an Aryan, does not lead to heaven, and is disgraceful.

Lord Krishna questions Arjuna about the despondency that has overtaken him during this critical time. He states that it is unbecoming of a noble person, does not lead to heaven, and brings disgrace.

Lord Krishna addresses Arjuna, questioning how such debilitating thoughts have overtaken him in this crucial moment of battle. He emphasizes that succumbing to despair and weakness is not the way of noble individuals (Aryans). Such behavior does not lead to attaining heavenly realms, nor does it bring honor or glory; rather, it results in disgrace and infamy.

శ్రీ అంటే శోభ, సంపద, మహిమ కలిగిన.		Blessed, auspicious, glorious Indicates auspiciousness, prosperity, and glory. Often used as a prefix to denote respect.
भगवान्	భగవాన్		bhagavān
భగవాన్ అంటే దేవుడు లేదా భగవంతుడు.		The Blessed Lord Refers to the Supreme Being, possessing all auspicious qualities.
उवाच	ఉవాచ		uvāca
ఉవాచ అంటే చెప్పారు.		Said Indicates that someone has spoken.

कुतः	కుతః		kutaḥ
కుతః అంటే ఎక్కడ నుండి, ఎలా.		From where, how Indicates the origin or cause of something.
त्वा	త్వా		tvā
త్వా అంటే నీకు.		To you Refers to the person being addressed, in this case, Arjuna.
कश्मलम्	కశ్మలమ్		kaśmalam
కశ్మలమ్ అంటే నిరుత్సాహం, బలహీనత.		Dejection, impurity Refers to a state of weakness, delusion, or impurity of mind.
इदं	ఇదం		idam
ఇదమ్ అంటే ఇది.		This Refers to something that is present or happening.
विषमे	విషమే		viṣame
విషమే అంటే కష్ట సమయంలో, సంక్లిష్ట పరిస్థితుల్లో.		In this difficult situation Refers to a critical or challenging circumstance.
समुपस्थितम्	సముపస్థితమ్		samupasthitam
సముపస్థితమ్ అంటే సంభవించింది, కలిగింది.		Has come upon, arisen Indicates that something has appeared or manifested.

Meaning¶

ఇది ఆర్యులకు తగనిది, స్వర్గాన్ని ఇవ్వనిది మరియు అపకీర్తిని తెస్తుంది, అర్జునా.

It is unbefitting an Aryan, does not lead to heaven, and is disgraceful, Arjuna.

Meaning of Words¶

अनार्य	అనార్య		anārya
అనార్య అంటే ఆర్యులు కానివారు, నీచులు.		Un-Aryan, ignoble Not befitting a noble person, unworthy.
जुष्टम्	జుష్టమ్		juṣṭam
జుష్టమ్ అంటే ఇష్టపడేది, అనుసరించేది.		Practiced by That which is followed or cherished by.
अस्वर्ग्यम्	అస్వర్గ్యమ్		asvargyam
అస్వర్గ్యమ్ అంటే స్వర్గాన్ని ఇవ్వనిది.		Not leading to heaven That which does not lead to higher realms or spiritual liberation.
अकीर्तिकरम्	అకీర్తికరం		akīrtikaram
అకీర్తికరమ్ అంటే అపకీర్తిని తెచ్చేది.		Disgraceful, causing dishonor That which brings about infamy or loss of reputation.
अर्जुन	అర్జున		arjuna
అర్జున అంటే అర్జునుడు, కుంతి పుత్రుడు.		The warrior prince, son of Kunti and Pandu, and the main listener of the Bhagavad Gita. The name Arjuna means ‘bright’, ‘shining’, ‘white’.
