சந்நியாஸஸ்ய மஹாபாஹோ தத்த்வமிச்சாமி வேதிதும் ।

இந்த ஸ்லோகம், பகவத் கீதையின் முக்கியமான பகுதிகளில் ஒன்று. சந்நியாசம் மற்றும் தியாகம் பற்றிய சரியான புரிதலைப் பெற இது ஒரு தொடக்கப் புள்ளியாக அமைகிறது. அர்ஜுனனின் கேள்வி, ஆன்மீக பாதையில் தெளிவு பெற விரும்பும் அனைவருக்கும் பொருந்தும்.

அர்ஜுனன் கூறுகிறான்: ஓ மகா புஜங்களை உடையவரே, சந்நியாசத்தின் உண்மையை நான் அறிய விரும்புகிறேன். மேலும், தியாகத்தின் (தியாகம்) உண்மையை அறிய விரும்புகிறேன், ஓ ஹ்ருஷீகேசா, கேசினியை அழித்தவரே, தனித்தனியாக.

அர்ஜுனன், சந்நியாசம் மற்றும் தியாகம் ஆகியவற்றின் உண்மையான அர்த்தத்தை கிருஷ்ணரிடம் தனித்தனியாக அறிய விரும்புகிறான்.

அர்ஜுனன் தனது கேள்விகளைத் தொடங்குகிறான். அவன் கிருஷ்ணரிடம், துறவு மற்றும் தியாகம் ஆகிய இரண்டு தத்துவங்களின் சாரத்தையும், அவற்றின் வேறுபாடுகளையும் தெளிவாக விளக்க வேண்டுகிறான். அர்ஜுனன் கிருஷ்ணரை ‘மகாபாகு’ மற்றும் ‘ஹ்ருஷீகேசா’ என்று அழைக்கிறான். ‘மகாபாகு’ என்றால் வலிமையான கைகளை உடையவன், அதாவது கிருஷ்ணரின் திறன் மற்றும் வலிமை ஆகியவற்றைக் குறிக்கிறது. ‘ஹ்ருஷீகேசா’ என்றால் புலன்களின் தலைவன், அதாவது கிருஷ்ணர் புலன்களைக் கட்டுப்படுத்துபவர் மற்றும் ஞானத்தின் உச்சமாக இருப்பவர் என்பதைக் குறிக்கிறது. கேசினியை அழித்தவரே என்பது கிருஷ்ணர் கேசி என்ற அசுரனை வதம் செய்த கதையைக் குறிக்கிறது. கிருஷ்ணரின் தெய்வீக செயல்களை நினைவூட்டுவதன் மூலம், அர்ஜுனன் தனது சந்தேகங்களைத் தீர்க்க கிருஷ்ணரிடம் நம்பிக்கை வைக்கிறான்.

This verse marks the beginning of an important section in the Bhagavad Gita, seeking clarification on the concepts of renunciation and relinquishment. Arjuna’s question is relevant to anyone seeking clarity on the spiritual path.

Arjuna said: O mighty-armed one, I wish to know the truth of renunciation (sannyasa), and also of relinquishment (tyaga), O Hrishikesha, slayer of Keshin, separately.

Arjuna expresses his desire to understand the true meaning of renunciation (sannyasa) and relinquishment (tyaga) separately from Krishna.

Arjuna addresses Krishna as ‘Mahabaho’ and ‘Hrishikesha’. ‘Mahabaho’ signifies ‘mighty-armed,’ highlighting Krishna’s strength and ability. ‘Hrishikesha’ means ‘Lord of the senses,’ indicating Krishna’s mastery over the senses and supreme wisdom. ‘Keshinishudana’ - slayer of Keshin, recalling the story of Krishna slaying the demon Kesi. By invoking Krishna’s divine attributes, Arjuna expresses his faith in Krishna’s ability to resolve his doubts.
