अर्जुन उवाच।

ये शास्त्रविधिमुत्सृज्य यजन्ते श्रद्धयान्विताः ।

तेषां निष्ठा तु का कृष्ण सत्त्वमाहो रजस्तमः ॥

யே ஶாஸ்த்ரவிதிமுத்ஸ்ருஜ்ய யஜந்தே ஶ்ரத்தயான்விதாஃ ।

தேஷாம் நிஷ்டா து கா க்ருஷ்ண ஸத்வமாஹோ ரஜஸ்தமஃ ॥

ye śāstra-vidhim utsṛjya yajante śraddhayānvitāḥ।

teṣām niṣṭhā tu kā kṛṣṇa sattvam āho rajas tamaḥ ॥

இந்த ஸ்லோகம், சாஸ்திரங்களின் வழிகாட்டுதல் இல்லாமல் செய்யப்படும் செயல்களின் விளைவுகளைப் பற்றிய முக்கிய கேள்வியை எழுப்புகிறது. நம்பிக்கை மட்டும் போதுமானதா, அல்லது சாஸ்திரங்களின் அறிவு அவசியம் என்பதை இது ஆராய்கிறது.

அர்ஜுனன் கூறுகிறான்: சாஸ்திரங்களில் விதிக்கப்பட்ட விதிமுறைகளைத் துறந்து, நம்பிக்கையுடன் யாகம் செய்பவர்களின் நிலை என்ன? கிருஷ்ணா, அது ஸத்வ குணமா, ரஜோ குணமா, அல்லது தமோ குணமா?

அர்ஜுனன், சாஸ்திர விதிமுறைகளைப் புறக்கணித்து, நம்பிக்கையுடன் வழிபடுபவர்களின் கதி என்ன என்று கிருஷ்ணரிடம் கேட்கிறார். அவர்களின் அர்ப்பணிப்பு ஸத்வ, ரஜோ அல்லது தமோ குணங்களில் எதுவாக இருக்கும் என்று அவர் வினவுகிறார்.

அர்ஜுனன் கிருஷ்ணரிடம் ஒரு கேள்வியைக் கேட்கிறான். சாஸ்திரங்களில் சொல்லப்பட்ட வழிகளைப் பின்பற்றாமல், தங்கள் சொந்த நம்பிக்கையின் அடிப்படையில் யாகங்கள் செய்பவர்களின் உண்மையான நிலை என்ன? அவர்கள் எந்த குணத்தின் ஆதிக்கத்தில் இருக்கிறார்கள்? அவர்கள் ஸத்வ குணத்தின் தூய்மையால் வழிநடத்தப்படுகிறார்களா, ரஜோ குணத்தின் ஆர்வத்தினால் தூண்டப்படுகிறார்களா, அல்லது தமோ குணத்தின் அறியாமையால் ஆளப்படுகிறார்களா?

He inquires about the prevailing guna, or quality, influencing their actions. Are they guided by the purity of sattva, the passion of rajas, or the ignorance of tamas?
