अधियज्ञः कथं कोऽत्र देहेऽस्मिन्मधुसूदन ।

प्रयाणकाले च कथं ज्ञेयोऽसि नियतात्मभिः ॥

prayāṇakāle ca kathaṁ jñeyo’si niyatātmabhiḥ ॥

Meaning / Summary

हा श्लोक भगवंतांच्या स्वरूपाबद्दल आणि आत्मसंयमी पुरुषांना त्यांच्या प्राप्तीबद्दल अर्जुनच्या मनात असलेली जिज्ञासा दर्शवतो. हे ज्ञान प्राप्त करण्याची इच्छा मनुष्याला मोक्षाकडे नेते.

अर्जुन म्हणाला: हे मधुसूदन, या देहामध्ये अधियज्ञ कोण आहे? आणि अंतकाळी आत्मसंयमी पुरुषांना तू कसा जाणता येतोस?

अर्जुन भगवंतांना अधियज्ञ आणि मृत्यूसमयी आत्मसंयमी पुरुषांना भगवंत कसे जाणता येतात याबद्दल प्रश्न विचारत आहे.

अर्जुन भगवान श्रीकृष्णांना विचारतो की, हे मधुसूदन, या शरीरात ‘अधियज्ञ’ म्हणजे यज्ञस्वरूप कोण आहे? आणि ज्यांनी आपले मन जिंकले आहे, अशा आत्मसंयमी पुरुषांना मृत्यूसमयी तू कसा प्राप्त होतोस किंवा कसा समजतोस?

This verse reveals Arjuna’s curiosity about the nature of the Lord and the attainment of Him by self-controlled individuals. The desire to acquire this knowledge leads a person to liberation.

Arjuna said: O Madhusudana, who is the Adhiyajna in this body, and how can those of self-control know You at the time of death?

Arjuna is questioning the Lord about Adhiyajna and how self-controlled individuals can know Him at the time of death.

Arjuna inquires from Lord Krishna, “O Madhusudana, who is this Adhiyajna (Lord of Sacrifice) residing within this body? Furthermore, how are You realized by those who have controlled their minds at the time of death?

अधियज्ञः		adhiyajñaḥ
अधियज्ञः यज्ञांचा स्वामी, यज्ञ ज्याच्यासाठी केला जातो तो.		Adhiyajna The Lord of sacrifice; He for whom the sacrifice is performed.
