किं तद् ब्रह्म किमध्यात्मं किं कर्म पुरुषोत्तम ।

अधिभूतं च किं प्रोक्तमधिदैवं किमुच्यते ॥

Meaning / Summary¶

हा श्लोक भगवतगीतेतील एक महत्त्वाचा भाग आहे, कारण यात अर्जुन काही मूलभूत प्रश्न विचारतो, ज्यांची उत्तरे भगवतगीतेच्या पुढील अध्यायांमध्ये दिली आहेत. हे प्रश्न मानवी अस्तित्वाच्या आणि ज्ञानाच्या शोधाशी संबंधित आहेत.

अर्जुन म्हणाला: हे पुरुषोत्तमा, ते ब्रह्म काय आहे? अध्यात्म म्हणजे काय? कर्म म्हणजे काय? अधिभूत म्हणजे काय सांगितले जाते? आणि अधिदैव म्हणजे काय?

अर्जुन कृष्णाला ब्रह्म, अध्यात्म, कर्म, अधिभूत आणि अधिदैव यांविषयी प्रश्न विचारतो.

या श्लोकात अर्जुन भगवंतांना काही मूलभूत प्रश्न विचारत आहे. तो ब्रह्म, अध्यात्म, कर्म, अधिभूत आणि अधिदैव या संज्ञांविषयी जाणून घेण्यास उत्सुक आहे. ‘पुरुषोत्तम’ या नावाने तो कृष्णाला संबोधित करतो, ज्याचा अर्थ ‘पुरुषांमध्ये श्रेष्ठ’ असा आहे, आणि त्याला या प्रश्नांची उत्तरे देण्याची विनंती करतो.

Arjuna said: O Supreme Person, what is Brahman? What is the Self? What is action? What is referred to as the material manifestation? And what is called the demigods?
