यं संन्यासमिति प्राहुर्योगं तं विद्धि पाण्डव ।

न ह्यसंन्यस्तसङ्कल्पो योगी भवति कश्चन ॥

na hyasaṁnyastasaṅkalpo yogī bhavati kaścana॥

Meaning / Summary

या श्लोकात संन्यास आणि योग एकच आहेत, हे सांगितले आहे. आंतरिक शुद्धीसाठी इच्छांचा त्याग महत्त्वाचा आहे, हे स्पष्ट केले आहे.

हे पांडवा, ज्याला संन्यास म्हणतात, त्यालाच योग समज. कारण संकल्पांचा त्याग केल्याशिवाय कोणीही योगी होऊ शकत नाही.

खरा योग म्हणजे संन्यास आहे, इच्छांचा त्याग केल्याशिवाय कोणीही योगी होऊ शकत नाही.

अर्जुनला उद्देशून श्रीकृष्ण म्हणतात, ‘हे पांडवा, लोक ज्याला संन्यास (सर्व कर्मांचा त्याग) म्हणतात, तोच खरा योग आहे. कारण जोपर्यंत मनुष्य आपल्या मनात उठणाऱ्या इच्छांचा, कामनांचा त्याग करत नाही, तोपर्यंत त्याला योग प्राप्त होऊ शकत नाही, तो योगी बनू शकत नाही.’ संन्यास म्हणजे केवळ कर्म करणे सोडणे नव्हे, तर कर्मांच्या फळाची अपेक्षा सोडणे आणि सर्व संकल्प सोडून भगवंताला शरण जाणे होय. याच स्थितीत मनुष्य योगाला प्राप्त होतो.

This verse explains that renunciation and yoga are the same. It emphasizes the importance of renouncing desires for inner purity.

O Arjuna, know that which they call renunciation is the same as yoga. Indeed, no one can become a yogi without renouncing desires.

True yoga is renunciation; no one can become a yogi without renouncing desires.

Lord Krishna explains to Arjuna, ‘That which people refer to as renunciation (Sanyasa) is actually yoga. Because, unless a person abandons all desires and resolves arising in the mind, they cannot attain yoga and become a yogi.’ Renunciation does not merely mean abandoning actions, but rather relinquishing the expectation of the fruits of actions and surrendering to the Divine after abandoning all resolves. It is in this state that one attains yoga.

कारण संकल्पांचा त्याग केल्याशिवाय कोणीही योगी होऊ शकत नाही.
