अभयं सत्त्वसंशुद्धिर्ज्ञानयोगव्यवस्थितिः ।

दानं दमश्च यज्ञश्च स्वाध्यायस्तप आर्जवम् ॥

അഭയം സത്ത്വസംശുദ്ധിർജ്ഞാനയോഗവ്യവസ്ഥിതിഃ ।

ദാനം ദമശ്ച യജ്ഞശ്ച സ്വാധ്യായസ്തപ ആർജ്ജവമ് ॥

Meaning / Summary¶

ദൈവിക സ്വഭാവം ഉള്ളവരുടെ ലക്ഷണങ്ങൾ മനസ്സിലാക്കുന്നതിലൂടെ, ആത്മീയ പാതയിൽ മുന്നേറാനും മോക്ഷം നേടാനും സാധിക്കും.

ശ്രീ ഭഗവാൻ പറഞ്ഞു: ഭയം ഇല്ലാതിരിക്കുക, മനസ്സിന്റെ വിശുദ്ധി, ജ്ഞാനത്തിനും യോഗത്തിനുമുള്ള സ്ഥിരമായ പ്രതിഷ്ഠ, ദാനം, ഇന്ദ്രിയങ്ങളുടെ നിയന്ത്രണം, യാഗം, വേദാധ്യയനം, തപസ്സ്, ആത്മാർത്ഥത എന്നിവ (ദൈവിക സ്വഭാവത്തോടുകൂടിയവരുടെ ലക്ഷണങ്ങളാണ്).

ഈ ശ്ലോകത്തിൽ, ഭയം ഇല്ലാതിരിക്കുക, മനശുദ്ധി, ജ്ഞാനയോഗങ്ങളിൽ സ്ഥിരത, ദാനം, ഇന്ദ്രിയനിയന്ത്രണം, യാഗം, വേദാധ്യയനം, തപസ്സ്, ആത്മാർത്ഥത എന്നിവ ദൈവിക സ്വഭാവത്തിന്റെ ലക്ഷണങ്ങളായി ഭഗവാൻ പറയുന്നു.

ഈ ശ്ലോകത്തിൽ, ഭഗവാൻ ശ്രീകൃഷ്ണൻ ദൈവിക സ്വഭാവം ഉള്ളവരുടെ പ്രധാന ലക്ഷണങ്ങളെക്കുറിച്ച് അർജ്ജുനനോട് പറയുന്നു. ഭയം ഇല്ലാതിരിക്കുക എന്നത് ആത്മീയതയുടെ ആദ്യ പടിയാണ്. എപ്പോഴും ഭയത്തിൽ ജീവിക്കുന്ന ഒരാൾക്ക് സത്യം അറിയാൻ സാധിക്കുകയില്ല. മനസ്സിനെ ശുദ്ധമായി സൂക്ഷിക്കുക എന്നത് പ്രധാനമാണ്, കാരണം ശുദ്ധമായ മനസ്സിൽ മാത്രമേ ജ്ഞാനം നിലനിൽക്കുകയുള്ളൂ. ജ്ഞാനത്തിനും യോഗയ്ക്കും വേണ്ടി ജീവിതം ഉഴിഞ്ഞുവെക്കുകയും, ദാനം ചെയ്യാനുള്ള സന്നദ്ധത, ഇന്ദ്രിയങ്ങളെ നിയന്ത്രിക്കാനുള്ള കഴിവ്, യാഗങ്ങൾ ചെയ്യാനുള്ള താല്പര്യം, വേദങ്ങളെക്കുറിച്ച് പഠിക്കാനുള്ള ആഗ്രഹം, തപസ്സനുഷ്ഠിക്കാനുള്ള മാനസികാവസ്ഥ, ആത്മാർത്ഥത എന്നിവയെല്ലാം ദൈവിക സ്വഭാവത്തിന്റെ ഭാഗമാണ്.

By understanding the qualities of those with a divine nature, one can advance on the spiritual path and attain liberation.

The Blessed Lord said: Fearlessness, purity of heart, steadfastness in knowledge and yoga, alms-giving, control of the senses, sacrifice, study of the scriptures, austerity, and straightforwardness.

In this verse, the Lord describes fearlessness, purity of heart, steadfastness in knowledge and yoga, alms-giving, control of the senses, sacrifice, study of the scriptures, austerity, and straightforwardness as qualities of those with a divine nature.

In this verse, Lord Krishna describes to Arjuna the primary qualities of those endowed with a divine nature. Fearlessness is the first step towards spirituality, as one who constantly lives in fear cannot realize the truth. Maintaining a pure heart is essential because knowledge resides only in a pure mind. Dedication to knowledge and yoga, willingness to give alms, the ability to control the senses, interest in performing sacrifices, the desire to study the Vedas, the mental state to perform austerity, and sincerity are all part of the divine nature.

श्री	ശ്രീ		śrī
ശ്രീ എന്നാൽ ഐശ്വര്യം, ഭാഗ്യം, സൗന്ദര്യം എന്നെല്ലാം അർത്ഥം വരും. ഇവിടെ ഭഗവാനെ ബഹുമാന സൂചകമായി വിശേഷിപ്പിക്കുന്നു.		Blessed, auspicious, glorious “Sri” indicates auspiciousness, prosperity, or glory. Here, it is used as a respectful epithet for the Lord.
भगवान्	ഭഗവാൻ		bhagavān
ഭഗവാൻ എന്നാൽ എല്ലാ ഐശ്വര്യങ്ങളും നിറഞ്ഞവൻ അല്ലെങ്കിൽ ഈശ്വരൻ എന്ന് അർത്ഥം.		The Blessed Lord “Bhagavan” refers to the Lord, the possessor of all glories.

अभयम्	അഭയം		abhayam
അഭയം എന്നാൽ ഭയം ഇല്ലാത്ത അവസ്ഥ. പേടിയില്ലാത്ത അവസ്ഥ, ധൈര്യം.		Fearlessness “Abhayam” means freedom from fear, a state of courage and security.
सत्त्वसंशुद्धिः	സത്ത്വസംശുദ്ധിഃ		sattvasaṁśuddhiḥ
സത്ത്വസംശുദ്ധിഃ എന്നാൽ മനസ്സിന്റെ വിശുദ്ധി. സത്വം എന്നാൽ നല്ല ചിന്തകൾ, ശുദ്ധി എന്നാൽ ശുദ്ധമായത്. നല്ല ചിന്തകളാൽ മനസ്സിനെ ശുദ്ധമാക്കുക.		Purity of heart “Sattva-saṁśuddhiḥ” means purity of being or heart, clearness of mind.
ज्ञानयोगव्यवस्थितिः	ജ്ഞാനയോഗവ്യവസ്ഥിതിഃ		jñānayogavyavasthitiḥ
ജ്ഞാനയോഗവ്യവസ്ഥിതിഃ എന്നാൽ ജ്ഞാനത്തിലും യോഗയിലുമുള്ള സ്ഥിരമായ പ്രതിഷ്ഠ. ജ്ഞാനം എന്നാൽ അറിവ്, യോഗം എന്നാൽ ആത്മീയമായ അഭ്യാസം, വ്യവസ്ഥിതി എന്നാൽ സ്ഥിരമായ നില.		Steadfastness in knowledge and yoga “Jñāna-yoga-vyavasthitiḥ” means being firmly established in knowledge and yoga.

ദാനം, ഇന്ദ്രിയങ്ങളുടെ നിയന്ത്രണം, യാഗം, വേദാധ്യയനം, തപസ്സ്, ആത്മാർത്ഥത എന്നിവ.

Alms-giving, control of the senses, sacrifice, study of the scriptures, austerity, and straightforwardness.

Meaning of Words¶

दानं	ദാനം		dānaṁ
ദാനം എന്നാൽ പാവപ്പെട്ടവർക്ക് എന്തെങ്കിലും നൽകുക. സ്വയം ഇഷ്ടത്തോടെ മറ്റുള്ളവർക്ക് നൽകുന്നത് ദാനമാണ്.		Alms-giving “Dānam” means charity, giving alms or donations.
दमश्च	ദമഃ		damaśca
ദമഃ എന്നാൽ ഇന്ദ്രിയങ്ങളുടെ നിയന്ത്രണം. മനസ്സിനെയും ഇന്ദ്രിയങ്ങളെയും നിയന്ത്രിക്കാനുള്ള കഴിവ്.		Control of the senses “Damaḥ” means control of the senses, self-restraint.
यज्ञश्च	യജ്ഞഃ		yajñaśca
യജ്ഞഃ എന്നാൽ യാഗം. ദൈവീകമായ കാര്യങ്ങൾക്കായി ചെയ്യുന്ന കർമ്മങ്ങൾ.		Sacrifice “Yajñaḥ” means sacrifice, offering to the divine.
स्वाध्यायस्तप	സ്വാധ്യായഃ		svādhyāyastapa
സ്വാധ്യായഃ എന്നാൽ വേദാധ്യയനം. സ്വന്തമായി വേദങ്ങളെക്കുറിച്ച് പഠിക്കുക.		Study of the scriptures “Svādhyāyaḥ” means self-study, especially the study of the Vedas.
तप	തപഃ		tapa
തപഃ എന്നാൽ തപസ്സ്. കഠിനമായ വ്രതങ്ങൾ അനുഷ്ഠിക്കുക.		Austerity “Tapaḥ” means austerity, penance, self-discipline.
आर्जवम्	ആർജ്ജവം		ārjavam
ആർജ്ജവം എന്നാൽ ആത്മാർത്ഥത. സത്യസന്ധത, നിഷ്കളങ്കത.		Straightforwardness “Ārjavam” means straightforwardness, honesty, sincerity.
