श्रीभगवानुवाच ।

संन्यासः कर्मयोगश्च निःश्रेयसकरावुभौ ।

तयोस्तु कर्मसंन्यासात्कर्मयोगो विशिष्यते ॥

സംന്യാസഃ കർമ്മയോഗശ്ച നിഃശ്രേയസകരാവുഭൗ ।

തയോസ്തു കർമ്മസംന്യാസാത്കർമ്മയോഗോ വിശിഷ്യതേ ॥

sannyāsaḥ karmayogaśca niḥśreyasakarāvubhau ।

tayostu karmasaṁnyāsātkarmayogo viśiṣyate ॥

Meaning / Summary

ഈ ശ്ലോകം കർമ്മയോഗത്തിൻ്റെ പ്രാധാന്യം എടുത്തു കാണിക്കുന്നു. കർമ്മം ചെയ്യാതെ സന്ന്യാസം സ്വീകരിക്കുന്നതിനേക്കാൾ, നിസ്വാർത്ഥമായി കർമ്മം ചെയ്യുന്നതാണ് മോക്ഷത്തിലേക്ക് എളുപ്പ വഴി എന്ന് ഈ ശ്ലോകം പറയുന്നു.

ശ്രീ ഭഗവാൻ പറഞ്ഞു: കർമ്മത്തിൽ നിന്നുള്ള സന്ന്യാസവും കർമ്മയോഗവും ആത്യന്തികമായ മോക്ഷം നൽകുന്നവയാണ്. എന്നാൽ ഇവയിൽ കർമ്മ സന്ന്യാസത്തേക്കാൾ ശ്രേഷ്ഠം കർമ്മയോഗമാണ്.

ശ്രീ ഭഗവാൻ പറയുന്നു, സന്ന്യാസവും കർമ്മയോഗവും മോക്ഷം നൽകും. എന്നാൽ കർമ്മ സന്ന്യാസത്തേക്കാൾ കർമ്മയോഗം ശ്രേഷ്ഠമാണ്.

ശ്രീ ഭഗവാൻ അർജ്ജുനനോട് പറയുന്നു: കർമ്മങ്ങളെ പരിത്യജിച്ച് സന്ന്യാസം സ്വീകരിക്കുന്നതും, കർമ്മം ചെയ്തുകൊണ്ട് ഈശ്വരനിൽ സമർപ്പിക്കുന്ന കർമ്മയോഗവും രണ്ടും മോക്ഷത്തിലേക്കുള്ള വഴികളാണ്. എന്നാൽ കർമ്മം ചെയ്യാതെ സന്ന്യാസം സ്വീകരിക്കുന്നതിനേക്കാൾ ഉത്തമം കർമ്മം ചെയ്തുകൊണ്ട് ഈശ്വരനിൽ സമർപ്പിക്കുന്ന കർമ്മയോഗമാണ്. കാരണം കർമ്മം ചെയ്യാതെ ഇരുന്നാൽ മനസ്സിൽ പല ചിന്തകളും വന്നുകൊണ്ടിരിക്കും. എന്നാൽ കർമ്മം ചെയ്യുമ്പോൾ ആ ചിന്തകൾക്ക് ഒരു പരിധി ഉണ്ടാകും. അതിനാൽ കർമ്മയോഗം കൂടുതൽ എളുപ്പമാണ്.

This shloka emphasizes the importance of Karma Yoga. It states that performing selfless actions is a more straightforward path to liberation than merely renouncing actions.

The Blessed Lord said: Renunciation of action and performance of action both lead to the supreme goal. But of the two, performance of action is superior to renunciation of action.

The Blessed Lord says that both renunciation and Karma Yoga lead to liberation, but Karma Yoga is superior to renunciation of action.

The Blessed Lord Krishna tells Arjuna: Both renunciation of actions (Sannyasa) and performing actions with devotion (Karma Yoga) lead to the ultimate liberation. However, Karma Yoga, which involves performing one’s duties without attachment to the results and offering them to God, is superior to merely renouncing all actions. This is because simply abandoning actions can lead to mental restlessness and the inability to control the mind, whereas performing actions with detachment helps purify the mind and facilitates spiritual progress.

ശ്രീ എന്നാൽ ഐശ്വര്യം, തേജസ്സ്, ഭാഗ്യം എന്നെല്ലാം അർത്ഥം വരും. ഇവിടെ ഭഗവാനെ ബഹുമാനപുരസ്സരം സംബോധന ചെയ്യാൻ ഉപയോഗിക്കുന്നു.			Blessed, honorable Sri is a term of respect, often used as an honorific title. Here, it refers to the Blessed Lord.
भगवान्		ഭഗവാൻ		bhagavān
ഭഗവാൻ എന്നാൽ എല്ലാ ഐശ്വര്യങ്ങളും തികഞ്ഞവൻ, സർവ്വശക്തൻ എന്നെല്ലാം അർത്ഥം വരും. ഇവിടെ ശ്രീകൃഷ്ണനെക്കുറിച്ചാണ് പറയുന്നത്.			The Lord Bhagavan refers to the Lord, the possessor of all divine qualities.

संन्यासः		സംന്യാസഃ		sannyāsaḥ
സംന്യാസഃ എന്നാൽ കർമ്മങ്ങളെ പരിത്യജിക്കുക, എല്ലാ പ്രവർത്തികളിൽ നിന്നും വിട്ടുനിൽക്കുക, സന്യാസം സ്വീകരിക്കുക എന്നെല്ലാമാണ് അർത്ഥം.			Renunciation Sannyasaḥ means renunciation of actions, abandonment of worldly activities.
कर्मयोगश्च		കർമ്മയോഗശ്ച		karmayogaśca
കർമ്മയോഗശ്ച എന്നാൽ കർമ്മം ചെയ്യുക എന്നാൽ സ്വന്തം കർത്തവ്യം ചെയ്യുക, അതിലൂടെ ഈശ്വരനുമായി അടുക്കുക, ഫലം ആഗ്രഹിക്കാതെ പ്രവർത്തിക്കുക എന്നെല്ലാമാണ് അർത്ഥം.			And Karma Yoga Karmayogaśca means and the path of action, performing one’s duties.
निःश्रेयसकरावुभौ		നിഃശ്രേയസകരാവുഭൗ		niḥśreyasakarāvubhau
നിഃശ്രേയസകരാവുഭൗ എന്നാൽ ആത്യന്തികമായ നന്മ, മോക്ഷം, ശ്രേയസ്സ് എന്നിവ നൽകുന്ന രണ്ടെണ്ണം.			Both lead to the supreme good Niḥśreyasakarāvubhau means both lead to the ultimate benefit, liberation.

എന്നാൽ ഇവയിൽ കർമ്മ സന്ന്യാസത്തേക്കാൾ ശ്രേഷ്ഠം കർമ്മയോഗമാണ്.

തയോസ്തു എന്നാൽ അവ രണ്ടും, ഇവ രണ്ടും എന്ന് അർത്ഥം.			But of those two Tayostu means but of those two.
कर्मसंन्यासात्		കർമ്മസംന്യാസാത്		karmasaṁnyāsāt
കർമ്മസംന്യാസാത് എന്നാൽ കർമ്മം പരിത്യജിക്കുന്നതിനേക്കാൾ, സന്യാസത്തേക്കാൾ എന്ന് അർത്ഥം.			Than renunciation of action Karmasaṁnyāsāt means than renunciation of action.
कर्मयोगो		കർമ്മയോഗോ		karmayogo
കർമ്മയോഗോ എന്നാൽ കർമ്മയോഗം, പ്രവർത്തിയിലുള്ള യോഗം.			Karmayogo means Karma Yoga, the yoga of action.
विशिष्यते		വിശിഷ്യതേ		viśiṣyate
വിശിഷ്യതേ എന്നാൽ കൂടുതൽ നല്ലത്, ശ്രേഷ്ഠം, വിശേഷപ്പെട്ടത് എന്നെല്ലാം അർത്ഥം.			Is superior Viśiṣyate means is superior, is better.
