संन्यासं कर्मणां कृष्ण पुनर्योगं च शंससि ।

यच्छ्रेय एतयोरेकं तन्मे ब्रूहि सुनिश्चितम् ॥

അർജ്ജുന ഉവാച: സന്ന്യാസം കർമ്മണാം കൃഷ്ണ പുനർയോഗം ച ശംസസി ।

യച്ഛ്രേയ ഏതയോരേകം തന്മേ ബ്രൂഹി സുനിശ്ചിതമ് ॥

Meaning / Summary

ഈ ശ്ലോകത്തിൽ അർജ്ജുനൻ കർമ്മസന്ന്യാസത്തെയും കർമ്മയോഗത്തെയും കുറിച്ചുള്ള സംശയം കൃഷ്ണനോട് ചോദിച്ച് വ്യക്തമാക്കുന്നു. മനുഷ്യന് ആത്മീയമായ വളർച്ചയ്ക്ക് ഏതാണ് നല്ലതെന്ന് അറിയാൻ ഇത് സഹായിക്കുന്നു.

അർജ്ജുനൻ ചോദിച്ചു: കൃഷ്ണാ, കർമ്മങ്ങളുടെ സന്ന്യാസത്തെയും (പരിത്യാഗത്തെയും), വീണ്ടും കർമ്മയോഗത്തെയും നീ പ്രശംസിക്കുന്നു. ഈ രണ്ടിൽ ഏതാണ് ശ്രേഷ്ഠം എന്ന് എനിക്ക് തീർച്ചയായും പറഞ്ഞുതരിക.

അർജ്ജുനൻ കൃഷ്ണനോട് കർമ്മസന്ന്യാസമാണോ കർമ്മയോഗമാണോ ശ്രേഷ്ഠമെന്ന് ചോദിക്കുന്നു.

അർജ്ജുനൻ ഭഗവാനായ കൃഷ്ണനോട് ചോദിക്കുന്നു: അല്ലയോ കൃഷ്ണാ, അങ്ങ് ചിലപ്പോൾ കർമ്മങ്ങളെ പരിത്യജിക്കുന്നതിനെക്കുറിച്ച് പറയുന്നു, മറ്റുചിലപ്പോൾ കർമ്മയോഗത്തെ പ്രശംസിക്കുന്നു. ഈ രണ്ട് മാർഗ്ഗങ്ങളിൽ ഏതാണ് എനിക്ക് കൂടുതൽ നല്ലതെന്നും, ഏതാണ് മോക്ഷത്തിലേക്ക് എന്നെ വേഗത്തിൽ എത്തിക്കുക എന്നും അങ്ങ് ദയവായി വ്യക്തമായി പറഞ്ഞുതരണം.

In this verse, Arjuna clarifies his doubt about Karma Sannyasa and Karma Yoga with Krishna. This helps humans to know what is good for spiritual growth.

Arjuna said: Krishna, You praise renunciation of actions and again, performance of actions (Yoga). Tell me definitively which one is better of these two.

Arjuna asks Krishna which is superior: renunciation of actions or the path of action.

Arjuna is asking Lord Krishna for clarification. He notes that Krishna sometimes praises the path of renunciation of actions (Sannyasa), and at other times, He praises the path of selfless action (Karma Yoga). Arjuna is confused about which path he should follow and asks Krishna to definitively tell him which one is superior for his spiritual progress and ultimate liberation (Moksha). He wants a clear and certain answer from Krishna to guide him.

Krishna, You praise renunciation of actions and again, performance of actions.
