लोकेऽस्मिन् द्विविधा निष्ठा पुरा प्रोक्ता मयानघ ।

ज्ञानयोगेन साङ्ख्यानां कर्मयोगेन योगिनाम् ॥

Meaning / Summary¶

ഈ ശ്ലോകം ഭഗവദ്ഗീതയിലെ ഒരു പ്രധാന ആശയത്തെ അവതരിപ്പിക്കുന്നു. ഓരോ വ്യക്തിക്കും അവരവരുടെ പ്രകൃതത്തിനും താൽപ്പര്യങ്ങൾക്കും അനുസരിച്ച് ആത്മീയമായ പാത തിരഞ്ഞെടുക്കാൻ സാധിക്കും എന്ന് ഇത് പറയുന്നു. ജ്ഞാനയോഗവും കർമ്മയോഗവും ഒരുപോലെ പ്രധാനമാണ്, രണ്ടും മോക്ഷത്തിലേക്ക് നയിക്കാൻ കഴിയും.

ശ്രീ ഭഗവാൻ പറഞ്ഞു: അല്ലയോ നിഷ്കളങ്കനായ അർജ്ജുനാ, ഈ ലോകത്തിൽ രണ്ട് തരത്തിലുള്ള നിഷ്ഠകൾ (മാർഗ്ഗങ്ങൾ) ഞാൻ മുൻപ് പ്രഖ്യാപിച്ചിട്ടുണ്ട്. ജ്ഞാനയോഗം സാംഖ്യന്മാർക്കും, കർമ്മയോഗം യോഗികൾക്കും ഉള്ളതാണ്.

ഈ ശ്ലോകത്തിൽ, ഭഗവാൻ അർജ്ജുനനോട് ഈ ലോകത്തിൽ ആത്മീയമായ വളർച്ചയ്ക്ക് രണ്ട് വഴികളുണ്ട് എന്ന് പറയുന്നു: ജ്ഞാനയോഗം, സാംഖ്യന്മാർക്ക് (ജ്ഞാനം നേടാൻ ശ്രമിക്കുന്നവർക്ക്); കർമ്മയോഗം, യോഗികൾക്ക് (കർമ്മം ചെയ്ത് ഈശ്വരനെ പ്രാപിക്കാൻ ശ്രമിക്കുന്നവർക്ക്).

ശ്രീ കൃഷ്ണൻ അർജ്ജുനനോട് പറയുന്നു: അല്ലയോ പാപരഹിതനായ അർജ്ജുനാ, ഈ ലോകത്തിൽ മനുഷ്യർക്ക് പിന്തുടരാൻ രണ്ട് വഴികളുണ്ട്. ആത്മജ്ഞാനം നേടാൻ ശ്രമിക്കുന്ന സാംഖ്യന്മാർക്ക് ജ്ഞാനയോഗം, അതായത് വിവേകത്തിലൂടെയുള്ള വഴി. കർമ്മങ്ങളിൽ മുഴുകി ഈശ്വരനെ പ്രാപിക്കാൻ ശ്രമിക്കുന്ന യോഗികൾക്ക് കർമ്മയോഗം, അതായത് നിസ്വാർത്ഥമായ കർമ്മത്തിലൂടെയുള്ള വഴി. ഈ രണ്ട് വഴികളും മോക്ഷത്തിലേക്ക് നയിക്കുന്നവയാണ്.

This verse introduces a key concept in the Bhagavad Gita. It emphasizes that individuals can choose a spiritual path that aligns with their nature and inclinations. Both Jnana Yoga and Karma Yoga are equally valid and can lead to liberation.

The Blessed Lord said: O sinless Arjuna, in this world, a twofold path is already ordained, the path of knowledge for the Sankhyas and the path of action for the Yogis.

In this verse, the Blessed Lord (Sri Krishna) tells Arjuna that there are two paths for spiritual progress in this world: Jnana Yoga (the path of knowledge) for the Sankhyas (those who seek knowledge) and Karma Yoga (the path of action) for the Yogis (those who seek to reach God through action).

Lord Krishna explains to Arjuna that there are two distinct paths for spiritual progress in this world. The first is the path of knowledge (Jnana Yoga), suited for those inclined towards contemplation and discrimination (Sankhyas), who seek liberation through understanding the nature of reality. The second is the path of action (Karma Yoga), designed for those who are active and engaged in the world (Yogis), who seek liberation through selfless service and devotion.
