तत्किं कर्मणि घोरे मां नियोजयसि केशव ॥

ജ്യായാസീ ചേത്കർമ്മണസ്തേ മതാ ബുദ്ധിർജ്ജനാർദ്ദന ।

തത്കിം കർമ്മണി ഘോരേ മാം നിയോജയസി കേശവ ॥

Meaning / Summary

ഈ ശ്ലോകം ഭഗവദ്ഗീതയിലെ ഒരു പ്രധാനപ്പെട്ട ഭാഗമാണ്. ഇവിടെ അർജ്ജുനൻ തന്റെ സംശയങ്ങൾ ശ്രീകൃഷ്ണനുമായി പങ്കുവെക്കുന്നു. കർമ്മമാണോ ജ്ഞാനമാണോ വലുത് എന്ന ചോദ്യം വളരെ പ്രധാനമാണ്. ഈ ചോദ്യം ഗീതയുടെ തുടക്കത്തിൽത്തന്നെയുള്ള ആശയക്കുഴപ്പങ്ങൾ വ്യക്തമാക്കുന്നു.

അർജ്ജുനൻ ചോദിച്ചു: ഹേ ജനാർദ്ദനാ, കർമ്മത്തേക്കാൾ ബുദ്ധിയാണ് ശ്രേഷ്ഠമെന്ന് അങ്ങയുടെ അഭിപ്രായമാണെങ്കിൽ, പിന്നെ എന്തിനാണ് എന്നെ ഈ ഭയങ്കരമായ യുദ്ധത്തിൽ ഏർപ്പെടുത്തുന്നത്, ഹേ കേശവാ?

അർജ്ജുനൻ ശ്രീകൃഷ്ണനോട് ചോദിക്കുന്നു: കർമ്മത്തേക്കാൾ ബുദ്ധിയാണ് പ്രധാനമെങ്കിൽ, എന്തിനാണ് എന്നെ ഈ ഭയങ്കരമായ യുദ്ധത്തിലേക്ക് തള്ളിവിടുന്നത്?

അർജ്ജുനൻ ഭഗവാനോട് ചോദിക്കുന്നു: അല്ലയോ ജനാർദ്ദനാ (ശ്രീകൃഷ്ണാ), കർമ്മത്തേക്കാൾ ബുദ്ധിയാണ് ഉത്തമമെന്ന് അങ്ങ് കരുതുന്നുണ്ടെങ്കിൽ, എന്നെ എന്തിനാണ് ഈ ഭയങ്കരമായ യുദ്ധം ചെയ്യുവാൻ പ്രേരിപ്പിക്കുന്നത്? ബുദ്ധിയുപയോഗിച്ച് കർമ്മബന്ധനത്തിൽ നിന്ന് മോചനം നേടാമെന്നിരിക്കെ, എന്തിനാണ് എന്നെ യുദ്ധം പോലുള്ള കഠിനമായ കർമ്മത്തിലേക്ക് തള്ളിവിടുന്നത്? അല്ലയോ കേശവാ, അങ്ങ് ഇതിനെക്കുറിച്ച് വ്യക്തമാക്കണം.

This shloka is an important part of the Bhagavad Gita. Here Arjuna shares his doubts with Krishna, questioning which is superior - action or knowledge. This question highlights the confusion at the beginning of the Gita.

Arjuna said: If, according to you, intelligence is superior to action, O Janardana, then why do you urge me to engage in this terrible action, O Keshava?

Arjuna asks Krishna that if intelligence is superior to action, then why is Krishna urging him to fight in this terrible war.

Arjuna is questioning Krishna. He says, “O Janardana (Krishna), if you believe that intelligence is better than just doing actions, then why are you telling me to fight this terrible war? If using my intelligence I can get freedom from the cycle of actions, then why force me into doing such difficult actions like war? O Keshava, please explain this to me.”
