कुतस्त्वा कश्मलमिदं विषमे समुपस्थितम् ।

अनार्यजुष्टमस्वर्ग्यमकीर्तिकरमर्जुन ॥

കുതസ്ത്വാ കശ്മലമിദം വിഷമേ സമുപസ്ഥിതം ।

അനാര്യജുഷ്ടമസുവർഗ്ഗ്യമകീർത്തികരമർജ്ജുന ॥

Meaning / Summary¶

ധർമ്മസങ്കടത്തിൽപ്പെട്ട് വിഷാദത്തിലാണ്ട അർജ്ജുനന്റെ മാനസികാവസ്ഥയെ ചോദ്യം ചെയ്തുകൊണ്ട്, ക്ഷത്രിയനായ അർജ്ജുനന് ചേർന്നതല്ലാത്ത ചിന്തകളിൽ നിന്ന് മുക്തി നേടാൻ ശ്രീകൃഷ്ണൻ ഉപദേശിക്കുന്നു. ഇത്, വിഷമ സാഹചര്യങ്ങളിൽ തളരാതെ ധർമ്മം പാലിക്കാൻ നമ്മെ പ്രേരിപ്പിക്കുന്നു.

ശ്രീ ഭഗവാൻ പറഞ്ഞു: അർജ്ജുനാ, ഈ വിഷമ സന്ദർഭത്തിൽ നിനക്ക് എങ്ങനെയാണ് ഇങ്ങനെയുള്ള വ്യാകുലതകൾ ഉണ്ടായത്? ഇത് ശ്രേഷ്ഠന്മാർക്ക് ചേർന്നതല്ല, സ്വർഗ്ഗം നൽകുന്നതുമല്ല, അപകീർത്തി ഉണ്ടാക്കുന്നതുമാണ്.

ഈ ശ്ലോകത്തിൽ, വിഷമസന്ധിയിൽ അർജ്ജുനനുണ്ടായ മോഹത്തെക്കുറിച്ച് ശ്രീകൃഷ്ണൻ ചോദ്യം ചെയ്യുന്നു. ഇത് മാന്യതയില്ലാത്തതും സ്വർഗ്ഗം തരാത്തതും അപകീർത്തിയുണ്ടാക്കുന്നതുമാണെന്ന് ഭഗവാൻ പറയുന്നു.

ശ്രീ കൃഷ്ണൻ അർജ്ജുനനോട് ചോദിക്കുന്നു: അല്ലയോ അർജ്ജുനാ, ഈ നിർണ്ണായക സമയത്ത് നിനക്കെങ്ങനെ ഇത്ര വിഷാദമുണ്ടാകാൻ കാരണം? ഇത് ആര്യന്മാർ അഥവാ ശ്രേഷ്ഠന്മാർ പ്രവർത്തിക്കുന്നതല്ല. ഇത് സ്വർഗ്ഗത്തിലേക്ക് നയിക്കുന്നതുമല്ല, മറിച്ച് നിന്ദ്യമായ കീർത്തി നൽകുന്നതുമാണ്.

By questioning Arjuna’s state of sorrow and confusion, Lord Krishna urges him to overcome thoughts that are unbecoming of a Kshatriya. This encourages us to uphold our duty without being disheartened in difficult situations.

The Supreme Lord said: My dear Arjuna, how has this delusion overcome you in this hour of distress? It is certainly not befitting a man of noble character. It leads not to heaven, but to disgrace.

In this shloka, Lord Krishna questions Arjuna about the delusion that has overcome him in this hour of distress. He emphasizes that it is unbecoming of a noble man, does not lead to heaven, and brings disgrace.

Lord Krishna said: O Arjuna, how has this dejection overcome you at this critical juncture? This is not befitting of the Aryans (noble people). It does not lead to heaven, but rather brings infamy.

भगवान्	ഭഗവാൻ		bhagavān
ഭഗവാൻ സർവ്വശക്തനായ ദൈവം, എല്ലാ ഐശ്വര്യങ്ങളും തികഞ്ഞവൻ. ഇവിടെ ശ്രീകൃഷ്ണനെക്കുറിച്ചാണ് പറയുന്നത്.		Bhagavan The Supreme Lord; the one who possesses all opulence.

ഈ വിഷമഘട്ടത്തിൽ നിനക്കെങ്ങനെ ഈ മോഹം (അല്ലെങ്കിൽ ദുഃഖം) ഉണ്ടായി?

Meaning¶

അർജ്ജുനാ, ഇത് ആര്യന്മാർക്ക് (ശ്രേഷ്ഠന്മാർക്ക്) ചേർന്നതല്ല, സ്വർഗ്ഗം നൽകുന്നതുമല്ല, അപകീർത്തി ഉണ്ടാക്കുന്നതുമാണ്.

It is not befitting an Aryan (noble person), it does not lead to heaven, and it causes infamy, O Arjuna.

അസ്വർഗ്ഗ്യം സ്വർഗ്ഗം നൽകാത്ത, സ്വർഗ്ഗത്തിലേക്ക് നയിക്കാത്ത		not leading to heaven Not conducive to attaining heaven.
अकीर्तिकरम्	അകീർത്തികരം		akīrti-karam
അകീർത്തികരം അപകീർത്തി ഉണ്ടാക്കുന്നത്, ചീത്തപ്പേരുണ്ടാക്കുന്നത്		causing infamy Leading to disgrace; causing a bad reputation.
अर्जुन	അർജ്ജുന		arjuna
അർജ്ജുനാ, കുന്തിയുടെ മകനായ അർജ്ജുനൻ. വെളുത്ത നിറമുള്ളവൻ അല്ലെങ്കിൽ ആത്മാർത്ഥതയുള്ളവൻ എന്ന് അർത്ഥം.		O Arjuna; son of Kunti, characterized by his white complexion or sincerity.
