तं तथा कृपयाविष्टमश्रुपूर्णाकुलेक्षणम् ।
विषीदन्तमिदं वाक्यमुवाच मधुसूदनः ॥

തം തഥാ കൃപയാവിഷ്ടമശ്രുപൂർണ്ണാകുലേക്ഷണം।
വിഷീദന്തമിദം വാക്യമുവാച മധുസൂദനഃ॥

Meaning / Summary¶
ഈ ശ്ലോകം അർജ്ജുനൻ്റെ മാനസികാവസ്ഥയും ശ്രീകൃഷ്ണൻ്റെ പ്രതികരണവും എടുത്തു കാണിക്കുന്നു. യുദ്ധത്തിൻ്റെ പശ്ചാത്തലത്തിൽ അർജ്ജുനൻ്റെ ദയയും ദുഃഖവും കൃഷ്ണൻ്റെ ഉപദേശത്തിനുള്ള സാഹചര്യമൊരുക്കുന്നു.
സഞ്ജയൻ പറഞ്ഞു: ദയയാൽ നിറഞ്ഞവനും, കണ്ണുനീർ നിറഞ്ഞ് പരവശനായവനും, ദുഃഖിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നവനുമായ അർജ്ജുനനോട് മധുസൂദനൻ ഈ വാക്കുകൾ അരുളിചെയ്തു.
സഞ്ജയൻ ധൃതരാഷ്ട്രരെ അറിയിക്കുന്നു, അർജ്ജുനൻ ദുഃഖത്താൽ നിറഞ്ഞ് കണ്ണുനീരോടെ വിഷണ്ണനായി ഇരുന്നപ്പോൾ ശ്രീകൃഷ്ണൻ അവനോട് സംസാരിച്ചു.
സഞ്ജയൻ ധൃതരാഷ്ട്രരോട് പറയുന്നു: അർജ്ജുനൻ യുദ്ധക്കളത്തിൽ തൻ്റെ ബന്ധുക്കളെയും ഗുരുക്കന്മാരെയും കണ്ടപ്പോൾ അതിയായ ദുഃഖം തോന്നി. അവൻ ദയയാൽ നിറഞ്ഞ് കണ്ണുനീർ വാർത്ത് ദുഃഖിതനായി ഇരുന്നു. ആ അവസ്ഥയിൽ മധുസൂദനനായ ശ്രീകൃഷ്ണൻ അർജ്ജുനനോട് ഈ വാക്കുകൾ പറഞ്ഞു.
This verse highlights Arjuna’s mental state and Krishna’s response. Arjuna’s compassion and sorrow in the context of war set the stage for Krishna’s teachings.
Sanjaya said: To him who was thus overwhelmed with compassion, his eyes filled with tears and agitated, Madhusudana spoke these words.
Sanjaya informs Dhritarashtra that Arjuna was overwhelmed with grief and tears, and Krishna spoke to him in that dejected state.
Sanjaya narrates to Dhritarashtra: Arjuna, seeing his relatives and teachers on the battlefield, was overcome with deep sorrow and compassion. His eyes welled up with tears, and he was deeply distressed. To Arjuna in this condition, Madhusudana, Lord Krishna, spoke the following words.
