क्षेत्रक्षेत्रज्ञयोर्ज्ञानं यत्तज्ज्ञानं मतं मम ॥

ಕ್ಷೇತ್ರಜ್ಞಂ ಚಾಪಿ ಮಾಂ ವಿದ್ಧಿ ಸರ್ವಕ್ಷೇತ್ರೇಷು ಭಾರತ ।

ಕ್ಷೇತ್ರಕ್ಷೇತ್ರಜ್ಞಯೋರ್ಜ್ಞಾನಂ ಯತ್ತಜ್ಜ್ಞಾನಂ ಮತಂ ಮಮ ॥

Meaning / Summary¶

ಈ ಶ್ಲೋಕವು ಕ್ಷೇತ್ರ (ದೇಹ) ಮತ್ತು ಕ್ಷೇತ್ರಜ್ಞ (ಆತ್ಮ) ಇವುಗಳ ವ್ಯತ್ಯಾಸವನ್ನು ತಿಳಿದುಕೊಳ್ಳುವ ಮಹತ್ವವನ್ನು ತಿಳಿಸುತ್ತದೆ. ಅಲ್ಲದೆ, ಪರಮಾತ್ಮನು ಎಲ್ಲ ಜೀವಿಗಳಲ್ಲಿಯೂ ನೆಲೆಸಿರುವನು ಎಂಬುದನ್ನು ತಿಳಿಸುತ್ತದೆ.

ಭಾರತ, ಪ್ರತಿಯೊಂದು ಕ್ಷೇತ್ರದಲ್ಲಿಯೂ ಕ್ಷೇತ್ರಜ್ಞಾನಿಯು ನಾನೇ ಎಂದು ತಿಳಿ. ಕ್ಷೇತ್ರ ಮತ್ತು ಕ್ಷೇತ್ರಜ್ಞಾನಿಯ ಜ್ಞಾನವೇ ನಿಜವಾದ ಜ್ಞಾನವೆಂದು ನನ್ನ ಅಭಿಪ್ರಾಯ.

ಕ್ಷೇತ್ರ ಮತ್ತು ಕ್ಷೇತ್ರಜ್ಞಾನಿಯ ಜ್ಞಾನವೇ ನಿಜವಾದ ಜ್ಞಾನವೆಂದು ಶ್ರೀಕೃಷ್ಣನು ಅರ್ಜುನನಿಗೆ ಹೇಳುತ್ತಾನೆ. ಪ್ರತಿಯೊಂದು ಕ್ಷೇತ್ರದಲ್ಲಿಯೂ ಕ್ಷೇತ್ರಜ್ಞಾನಿಯು ನಾನೇ ಎಂದು ತಿಳಿ.

ಅರ್ಜುನ, ಪ್ರತಿಯೊಂದು ದೇಹದಲ್ಲಿಯೂ ಇರುವ ಜೀವಾತ್ಮನು (ಕ್ಷೇತ್ರಜ್ಞ) ನಾನೇ. ಕ್ಷೇತ್ರವೆಂದರೆ ದೇಹ, ಕ್ಷೇತ್ರಜ್ಞನೆಂದರೆ ಆ ದೇಹವನ್ನು ಅರಿತಿರುವವನು. ಹೀಗೆ ಕ್ಷೇತ್ರ ಮತ್ತು ಕ್ಷೇತ್ರಜ್ಞನ (ದೇಹ ಮತ್ತು ಆತ್ಮ) ಬಗ್ಗೆ ಇರುವ ಜ್ಞಾನವೇ ನಿಜವಾದ ಜ್ಞಾನವೆಂದು ನಾನು ಭಾವಿಸುತ್ತೇನೆ.

This shloka highlights the importance of understanding the difference between the body (field) and the soul (knower of the field). It also reveals that the Supreme Lord resides within all beings.

O Bharata, know that I am also the Knower of the field in all fields. The knowledge of the field and the Knower of the field, that is considered by Me to be knowledge.

Krishna tells Arjuna that true knowledge is the knowledge of the field and the knower of the field. He says that he is the knower of the field in all fields.

Arjuna, understand that I am the Supreme Lord who resides within every living being as the ‘Knower of the field’. ‘The field’ refers to the body, and ‘the Knower of the field’ is the individual soul within the body. Therefore, the true knowledge is to understand the difference between the body (field) and the soul (Knower of the field) and their relationship with Me.

क्षेत्रज्ञं	ಕ್ಷೇತ್ರಜ್ಞಂ		kṣetrajñaṁ
ಕ್ಷೇತ್ರವನ್ನು ಅರಿತವನು, ಆತ್ಮ. ದೇಹವೆಂಬ ಕ್ಷೇತ್ರವನ್ನು ಅರಿತಿರುವ ಆತ್ಮ ಅಥವಾ ಚೇತನ ಸ್ವರೂಪ.		Knower of the field, soul. One who knows the field; the individual soul or consciousness within the body.
चापि	ಚಾಪಿ		ca api
ಮತ್ತು, ಕೂಡ. ಇದಲ್ಲದೆ, ಮತ್ತು ಎಂಬ ಅರ್ಥವನ್ನು ನೀಡುತ್ತದೆ.		and, also. An indeclinable particle meaning ‘and’, ‘also’, ‘even’.
मां	ಮಾಂ		māṁ
ನನ್ನನ್ನು. ಇಲ್ಲಿ ಶ್ರೀಕೃಷ್ಣನು ತನ್ನನ್ನು ಕುರಿತು ಹೇಳಿಕೊಳ್ಳುತ್ತಿದ್ದಾನೆ.		Me. Refers to Krishna himself.
विद्धि	ವಿದ್ಧಿ		viddhi
ತಿಳಿ. ಅರಿತುಕೋ, ತಿಳಿದುಕೋ.		Know. Understand, perceive, realize.

सर्वक्षेत्रेषु	ಸರ್ವಕ್ಷೇತ್ರೇಷು		sarva-kṣetreṣu
ಎಲ್ಲಾ ಕ್ಷೇತ್ರಗಳಲ್ಲಿ. ಪ್ರತಿಯೊಂದು ದೇಹದಲ್ಲಿ, ಪ್ರತಿಯೊಂದು ಅಸ್ತಿತ್ವದಲ್ಲಿ.		In all fields. In all bodies, in every existence.
भारत	ಭಾರತ		bhārata
ಭಾರತ. ಇದು ಅರ್ಜುನನಿಗೆ ಸಂಬೋಧನೆಯಾಗಿದೆ. ಭರತ ವಂಶದಲ್ಲಿ ಹುಟ್ಟಿದವನು.		O Bharata. An address to Arjuna, meaning ‘descendant of Bharata’.
