स एवायं मया तेऽद्य योगः प्रोक्तः पुरातनः ।

भक्तोऽसि मे सखा चेति रहस्यं ह्येतदुत्तमम् ॥

ಸ ಏವಾಯಂ ಮಯಾ ತೇಽದ್ಯ ಯೋಗಃ ಪ್ರೋಕ್ತಃ ಪುರಾತನಃ ।

ಭಕ್ತೋಽಸಿ ಮೇ ಸಖಾ ಚೇತಿ ರಹಸ್ಯಂ ಹ್ಯೇತದುತ್ತಮಮ್ ॥

Meaning / Summary

ಈ ಶ್ಲೋಕವು ಭಕ್ತಿ ಮತ್ತು ಸ್ನೇಹದ ಮಹತ್ವವನ್ನು ತಿಳಿಸುತ್ತದೆ. ಭಗವಂತನಿಗೆ ಪ್ರಿಯವಾಗಬೇಕಾದರೆ ಭಕ್ತಿಯೂ ಮತ್ತು ಸ್ನೇಹವೂ ಮುಖ್ಯವೆಂದು ತಿಳಿಸುತ್ತದೆ. ಅಲ್ಲದೆ, ಈ ಯೋಗವು ಒಂದು ರಹಸ್ಯವಾಗಿದ್ದು, ಯೋಗ್ಯರಿಗೆ ಮಾತ್ರ ತಿಳಿಸಲ್ಪಡುತ್ತದೆ ಎಂದು ತಿಳಿಸುತ್ತದೆ.

ಅದೇ ಪುರಾತನ ಯೋಗವನ್ನು ನಿನಗೆ ಇಂದು ನಾನು ಹೇಳಿದ್ದೇನೆ ಏಕೆಂದರೆ ನೀನು ನನ್ನ ಭಕ್ತನೂ ಮತ್ತು ಸ್ನೇಹಿತನೂ ಆಗಿದ್ದೀಯೆ. ಈ ಯೋಗವು ಅತ್ಯಂತ ಶ್ರೇಷ್ಠ ರಹಸ್ಯವಾಗಿದೆ.

ಶ್ರೀಕೃಷ್ಣನು ಅರ್ಜುನನಿಗೆ ತಾನು ಹೇಳುತ್ತಿರುವ ಯೋಗವು ಪುರಾತನವಾದದ್ದು ಮತ್ತು ಅರ್ಜುನನು ಅವನ ಭಕ್ತ ಮತ್ತು ಸ್ನೇಹಿತನಾಗಿರುವುದರಿಂದ ಆ ರಹಸ್ಯವನ್ನು ತಿಳಿಸುತ್ತಿರುವುದಾಗಿ ಹೇಳುತ್ತಾನೆ.

ಶ್ರೀಕೃಷ್ಣನು ಅರ್ಜುನನಿಗೆ ಹೇಳುತ್ತಾನೆ: ಅರ್ಜುನ, ನಾನು ನಿನಗೆ ಇಂದು ಬೋಧಿಸುತ್ತಿರುವ ಈ ಯೋಗವು ಹೊಸತಲ್ಲ. ಇದು ಪುರಾತನವಾದದ್ದು, ಹಿಂದೆ ಸೂರ್ಯದೇವನಿಗೂ ಉಪದೇಶಿಸಲ್ಪಟ್ಟಿದ್ದು. ನೀನು ನನ್ನ ಭಕ್ತನೂ, ನನ್ನ ಸ್ನೇಹಿತನೂ ಆಗಿರುವ ಕಾರಣ, ನಿನಗೆ ಈ ರಹಸ್ಯವನ್ನು ತಿಳಿಸುತ್ತಿದ್ದೇನೆ. ಏಕೆಂದರೆ, ಈ ಯೋಗವು ಅತ್ಯಂತ ರಹಸ್ಯವಾದದ್ದು ಮತ್ತು ಶ್ರೇಷ್ಠವಾದದ್ದು.

This verse highlights the importance of devotion and friendship in receiving divine knowledge. It emphasizes that true understanding of Yoga, a profound secret, is accessible to those who are both devoted and trusted by the divine.

That same ancient Yoga has been today taught to you by Me, because you are My devotee and friend; this is the supreme secret.

Lord Krishna tells Arjuna that the Yoga he is teaching him is ancient and that he is revealing the secret because Arjuna is his devotee and friend.

Lord Krishna says to Arjuna: Arjuna, the same ancient Yoga that I taught to the Sun-god long ago, I am now revealing to you today. The reason I am sharing this secret with you is because you are my devotee and my friend. This Yoga is a supreme secret, not easily understood or revealed to those who are not devoted.

ಅದೇ ಪುರಾತನ ಯೋಗವನ್ನು ಇಂದು ನಾನು ನಿನಗೆ ಹೇಳಿದ್ದೇನೆ.

That same ancient Yoga has been today taught to you by Me.

Meaning of Words

सः		ಸಃ		saḥ
ಅದು ಮೊದಲೇ ಹೇಳಿರುವಂಥದ್ದು			That Referring to something previously mentioned, in this context, the ancient Yoga.
एव		ಏವ		eva
ಖಂಡಿತವಾಗಿಯೂ			Indeed
अयम्		ಅಯಂ		ayaṁ
ಇದು ಈ ನಿರ್ದಿಷ್ಟವಾದದ್ದು			This Referring to something present or immediate.
मया		ಮಯಾ		mayā
ನನ್ನಿಂದ			By Me Performed or spoken by the speaker (Krishna).
ते		ತೇ		te
ನಿನಗೆ ನಿನ್ನ ಸಲುವಾಗಿ			To you Addressed to Arjuna.
अद्य		ಅದ್ಯ		adya
ಇಂದು ಈ ಸಮಯದಲ್ಲಿ			Today At this present time.
योगः		ಯೋಗಃ		yogaḥ
ಯೋಗ ಆಧ್ಯಾತ್ಮಿಕ ಅಭ್ಯಾಸ			Yoga The spiritual discipline or union with the divine.
प्रोक्तः		ಪ್ರೋಕ್ತಃ		proktaḥ
ಹೇಳಲ್ಪಟ್ಟಿದೆ ಉಪದೇಶಿಸಲಾಗಿದೆ			Taught Spoken or revealed.
पुरातनः		ಪುರಾತನಃ		purātanaḥ
ಪುರಾತನ ಹಳೆಯದು			Ancient Old, from ancient times.

ಏಕೆಂದರೆ ನೀನು ನನ್ನ ಭಕ್ತನೂ ಮತ್ತು ಸ್ನೇಹಿತನೂ ಆಗಿದ್ದೀಯೆ; ಇದು ಅತ್ಯಂತ ಶ್ರೇಷ್ಠ ರಹಸ್ಯವಾಗಿದೆ.

because you are My devotee and friend; this is the supreme secret.

एतत्		ಏತತ್		etat
ಇದು ಈ ವಿಷಯ			This Referring to the Yoga being taught.
उत्तमम्		ಉತ್ತಮಮ್		uttamam
ಉತ್ತಮವಾದದ್ದು ಶ್ರೇಷ್ಠವಾದದ್ದು			Supreme Excellent, best.
