लोकेऽस्मिन् द्विविधा निष्ठा पुरा प्रोक्ता मयानघ ।

ज्ञानयोगेन साङ्ख्यानां कर्मयोगेन योगिनाम् ॥

ಲೋಕೇಽಸ್ಮಿನ್ ದ್ವಿವಿಧಾ ನಿಷ್ಠಾ ಪುರಾ ಪ್ರೋಕ್ತಾ ಮಯಾನಘ ।

ಜ್ಞಾನಯೋಗೇನ ಸಾಙ್ಖ್ಯಾನಾಂ ಕರ್ಮಯೋಗೇನ ಯೋಗಿನಾಮ್ ॥

Meaning / Summary

ಈ ಶ್ಲೋಕವು ಭಗವದ್ಗೀತೆಯ ಸಾರಾಂಶವನ್ನು ನೀಡುತ್ತದೆ. ಇದು ಜ್ಞಾನ ಮತ್ತು ಕರ್ಮದ ಮಹತ್ವವನ್ನು ಎತ್ತಿ ತೋರಿಸುತ್ತದೆ. ಪ್ರತಿಯೊಬ್ಬ ವ್ಯಕ್ತಿಯು ತನ್ನ ಸ್ವಭಾವಕ್ಕೆ ಅನುಗುಣವಾಗಿ ಈ ಎರಡು ಮಾರ್ಗಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಯಾವುದನ್ನಾದರೂ ಆಯ್ಕೆ ಮಾಡಬಹುದು.

ಶ್ರೀ ಭಗವಾನ್ ಹೇಳುತ್ತಾನೆ: ಎಲೈ ನಿಷ್ಪಾಪ ಅರ್ಜುನ, ಈ ಜಗತ್ತಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಎರಡು ವಿಧದ ಜೀವನ ಮಾರ್ಗಗಳಿವೆ. ಅವುಗಳನ್ನು ನಾನೇ ಈ ಹಿಂದೆ ಹೇಳಿದ್ದೇನೆ. ಅವುಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಜ್ಞಾನಯೋಗವು ಜ್ಞಾನಿಗಳಿಗೆ, ಕರ್ಮಯೋಗವು ಕರ್ಮಿಗಳಿಗೆ ಮೀಸಲಾಗಿದೆ.

ಈ ಶ್ಲೋಕದಲ್ಲಿ, ಶ್ರೀಕೃಷ್ಣನು ಅರ್ಜುನನಿಗೆ ಜ್ಞಾನಯೋಗ ಮತ್ತು ಕರ್ಮಯೋಗ ಎಂಬ ಎರಡು ವಿಧದ ಜೀವನ ಮಾರ್ಗಗಳ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ವಿವರಿಸುತ್ತಾನೆ. ಜ್ಞಾನಯೋಗವು ಜ್ಞಾನವನ್ನು ಪಡೆಯಲು ಮತ್ತು ಕರ್ಮಯೋಗವು ನಿಸ್ವಾರ್ಥ ಕರ್ಮಗಳನ್ನು ಮಾಡುವ ಮೂಲಕ ಮುಕ್ತಿಯನ್ನು ಪಡೆಯಲು ಸಹಾಯ ಮಾಡುತ್ತದೆ.

ಶ್ರೀಕೃಷ್ಣನು ಅರ್ಜುನನಿಗೆ ಹೇಳುತ್ತಾನೆ: ಎಲೈ ಪಾಪರಹಿತನಾದ ಅರ್ಜುನ, ಈ ಜಗತ್ತಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಎರಡು ರೀತಿಯ ಸಾಧನೆಗಳಿವೆ, ಅವುಗಳನ್ನು ನಾನು ಮೊದಲೇ ವಿವರಿಸಿದ್ದೇನೆ. ಸಾಂಖ್ಯಯೋಗದ ಅನುಸರಣೆ ಜ್ಞಾನವನ್ನು ಪಡೆಯಲು ಮತ್ತು ಜ್ಞಾನದಲ್ಲಿ ನೆಲೆಗೊಳ್ಳಲು ಸಹಾಯ ಮಾಡುತ್ತದೆ, ಆದರೆ ಕರ್ಮಯೋಗವು ನಿಸ್ವಾರ್ಥ ಕರ್ಮಗಳನ್ನು ಮಾಡುವ ಮೂಲಕ ಮುಕ್ತಿಯನ್ನು ಪಡೆಯಲು ಸಹಾಯ ಮಾಡುತ್ತದೆ. ಜ್ಞಾನಯೋಗವು ಜ್ಞಾನವನ್ನು ಅನ್ವೇಷಿಸುವವರಿಗೆ ಮತ್ತು ಧ್ಯಾನದಲ್ಲಿ ಆಸಕ್ತಿ ಇರುವವರಿಗೆ ಸೂಕ್ತವಾಗಿದೆ, ಆದರೆ ಕರ್ಮಯೋಗವು ಕರ್ಮದಲ್ಲಿ ತೊಡಗಿರುವವರಿಗೆ ಮತ್ತು ಸಮಾಜಕ್ಕೆ ಸೇವೆ ಸಲ್ಲಿಸಲು ಬಯಸುವವರಿಗೆ ಸೂಕ್ತವಾಗಿದೆ.

This verse provides the essence of the Bhagavad Gita, highlighting the importance of both knowledge and action. Each individual can choose either of these two paths according to their nature.

The Supreme Lord said: O sinless Arjuna, in this world, there are two kinds of life paths, which I have spoken about in the past. Among them, the path of knowledge is for those inclined to contemplation, and the path of action is for those inclined to work.

In this verse, Lord Krishna explains to Arjuna the two distinct paths of spiritual progress: Jnana Yoga and Karma Yoga. Jnana Yoga helps in attaining knowledge, and Karma Yoga helps in attaining liberation through selfless action.

Lord Krishna says to Arjuna: O sinless Arjuna, in this world there are two distinct paths of spiritual progress, which I have explained before. The path of Sankhya Yoga is for those who seek knowledge and wish to establish themselves in knowledge. The path of Karma Yoga is for those who seek liberation through selfless action. The path of knowledge is suitable for those who are inclined towards contemplation and meditation, while the path of action is suitable for those who are engaged in activities and wish to serve the world.
