ವ್ಯಾಮಿಶ್ರೇಣೇವ ವಾಕ್ಯೇನ ಬುದ್ಧಿಂ ಮೋಹಯಸೀವ ಮೇ ।

ತದೇಕಂ ವದ ನಿಶ್ಚಿತ್ಯ ಯೇನ ಶ್ರೇಯೋಽಹಮಾಪ್ನುಯಾಮ್ ॥

Meaning / Summary¶

ಈ ಶ್ಲೋಕವು ಅರ್ಜುನನ ಗೊಂದಲವನ್ನು ಮತ್ತು ಸತ್ಯವನ್ನು ತಿಳಿದುಕೊಳ್ಳುವ ಅವನ ಹಂಬಲವನ್ನು ತೋರಿಸುತ್ತದೆ. ಇದು ಭಗವದ್ಗೀತೆಯ ಮುಖ್ಯ ಸಂದೇಶವನ್ನು ಅರ್ಥಮಾಡಿಕೊಳ್ಳಲು ಒಂದು ಪ್ರಮುಖ ಆರಂಭಿಕ ಹಂತವಾಗಿದೆ.

ನಿಮ್ಮ ಮಿಶ್ರಿತ ಮಾತುಗಳಿಂದ ನನ್ನ ಬುದ್ಧಿಯನ್ನು ಮೋಹಗೊಳಿಸುತ್ತಿದ್ದೀರಿ. ಆದ್ದರಿಂದ, ನಾನು ಯಾವುದರಿಂದ ಶ್ರೇಯಸ್ಸನ್ನು ಪಡೆಯುತ್ತೇನೆಯೋ, ಅದನ್ನು ನಿಶ್ಚಯಿಸಿ ಒಂದೇ ವಿಷಯವನ್ನು ಹೇಳಿ.

ಅರ್ಜುನನು ಕೃಷ್ಣನಿಗೆ ತನ್ನ ಗೊಂದಲವನ್ನು ಪರಿಹರಿಸಲು ಮತ್ತು ಮೋಕ್ಷಕ್ಕೆ ದಾರಿ ತೋರಿಸಲು ಕೇಳಿಕೊಳ್ಳುತ್ತಾನೆ.

ಅರ್ಜುನನು ಶ್ರೀಕೃಷ್ಣನಿಗೆ ಹೇಳುತ್ತಾನೆ: ಕೃಷ್ಣ, ನಿನ್ನ ಮಾತುಗಳು ಗೊಂದಲಮಯವಾಗಿವೆ. ಕರ್ಮಯೋಗವು ಶ್ರೇಷ್ಠವೋ ಅಥವಾ ಜ್ಞಾನಯೋಗವು ಶ್ರೇಷ್ಠವೋ ಎಂದು ನನಗೆ ತಿಳಿಯುತ್ತಿಲ್ಲ. ಆದ್ದರಿಂದ, ನನ್ನ ಗೊಂದಲವನ್ನು ನಿವಾರಿಸಿ, ನಾನು ಯಾವುದನ್ನು ಆಚರಿಸುವುದರಿಂದ ಮೋಕ್ಷವನ್ನು ಪಡೆಯುತ್ತೇನೆಯೋ ಅದನ್ನು ದಯವಿಟ್ಟು ನನಗೆ ತಿಳಿಸು.

This shloka shows Arjuna’s confusion and his longing to know the truth. It is an important starting point for understanding the main message of the Bhagavad Gita.

With seemingly conflicting words, you are bewildering my intellect. Therefore, tell me definitively the one thing by which I may attain the supreme good.

Arjuna asks Krishna to resolve his confusion and show him the path to salvation.

Arjuna tells Krishna: Krishna, your words are confusing me. I am not sure whether Karmayoga is superior or Jnanayoga. Therefore, please remove my confusion and tell me definitively that one path by following which I can attain salvation.

व्यामिश्रेण	ವ್ಯಾಮಿಶ್ರೇಣ		vyāmiśreṇa
ಮಿಶ್ರಿತವಾದ, ಗೊಂದಲಮಯವಾದ ಇಲ್ಲಿ ‘ವ್ಯಾಮಿಶ್ರೇಣ’ ಎಂದರೆ ಮಿಶ್ರಣಗೊಂಡ, ಸರಿಯಾಗಿ ಅರ್ಥವಾಗದ ಅಥವಾ ಗೊಂದಲವನ್ನುಂಟುಮಾಡುವಂತಹ.		Mixed, Confusing Here, ‘vyāmiśreṇa’ means mixed up, not clearly understandable or causing confusion.
इव	ಇವ		iva
ಹಾಗೆ, ರೀತಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ‘ಇವ’ ಎಂದರೆ ಹೋಲಿಕೆ ಅಥವಾ ರೀತಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಎಂದು ಅರ್ಥೈಸಬಹುದು. ಇದು ಉಪಮೆಯನ್ನು ಸೂಚಿಸುತ್ತದೆ.		Like, As if ‘iva’ can mean like or as if. It indicates a comparison.
वाक्येन	ವಾಕ್ಯೇನ		vākyena

ಬುದ್ಧಿಯನ್ನು ‘ಬುದ್ಧಿಂ’ ಎಂದರೆ ಜ್ಞಾನ, ತಿಳುವಳಿಕೆ ಅಥವಾ ಗ್ರಹಿಸುವ ಸಾಮರ್ಥ್ಯ.		Intellect, Understanding ‘buddhiṁ’ means intellect, understanding, or the ability to comprehend.
मोहयसि	ಮೋಹಯಸಿ		mohayasi
ಮೋಹಗೊಳಿಸುತ್ತೀರಿ ‘ಮೋಹಯಸಿ’ ಎಂದರೆ ಗೊಂದಲಗೊಳಿಸುತ್ತೀರಿ, ಭ್ರಮೆಗೆ ಒಳಪಡಿಸುತ್ತೀರಿ ಅಥವಾ ತಪ್ಪು ದಾರಿಗೆ ಎಳೆಯುತ್ತೀರಿ.		Bewildering, Confusing ‘mohayasi’ means bewildering, confusing, or leading astray.
मे	ಮೇ		me
‘ಮೇ’ ಎಂದರೆ ನನಗೆ ಅಥವಾ ನನ್ನದು.		My ‘me’ means to me or mine.

तत्	ತತ್		tat
ಅದು, ಆದ್ದರಿಂದ ‘ತತ್’ ಎಂದರೆ ಅದು ಅಥವಾ ಆದ್ದರಿಂದ ಎಂದು ಅರ್ಥೈಸಬಹುದು.		That, Therefore ‘tat’ can mean that or therefore.
एकं	ಏಕಂ		ekaṁ
‘ಏಕಂ’ ಎಂದರೆ ಒಂದು, ಒಂದೇ ಆದ.		One ‘ekaṁ’ means one, a single.
वद	ವದ		vada
ಹೇಳಿ ‘ವದ’ ಎಂದರೆ ಹೇಳು.		Tell ‘vada’ means tell.
निश्चित्य	ನಿಶ್ಚಿತ್ಯ		niścitya
ಖಚಿತವಾಗಿ, ನಿರ್ಧರಿಸಿ ‘ನಿಶ್ಚಿತ್ಯ’ ಎಂದರೆ ನಿರ್ಧರಿಸಿ, ಖಚಿತವಾಗಿ ಅಥವಾ ನಿಖರವಾಗಿ.		Definitively, Ascertaining ‘niścitya’ means ascertaining, definitively, or precisely.

ಯಾವುದರಿಂದ ನಾನು ಶ್ರೇಯಸ್ಸನ್ನು ಪಡೆಯುತ್ತೇನೆಯೋ.

By which I may attain the supreme good.

येन	ಯೇನ		yena
‘ಯೇನ’ ಎಂದರೆ ಯಾವುದರಿಂದ ಅಥವಾ ಯಾವ ಮೂಲಕ.		By which ‘yena’ means by which or through which.
श्रेयः	ಶ್ರೇಯಃ		śreyaḥ
ಶ್ರೇಯಸ್ಸು, ಒಳ್ಳೆಯದು ‘ಶ್ರೇಯಃ’ ಎಂದರೆ ಒಳಿತು, ಕಲ್ಯಾಣ, ಮೋಕ್ಷ ಅಥವಾ ಶುಭ.		Good, Welfare ‘śreyaḥ’ means good, welfare, salvation, or auspiciousness.
अहं	ಅಹಂ		ahaṁ
‘ಅಹಂ’ ಎಂದರೆ ನಾನು.		‘ahaṁ’ means I.
आप्नुयाम्	ಆಪ್ನುಯಾಮ್		āpnuyām
‘ಆಪ್ನುಯಾಮ್’ ಎಂದರೆ ಪಡೆಯಬಹುದು, ತಲುಪಬಹುದು ಅಥವಾ ಸಾಧಿಸಬಹುದು.		May attain, May reach ‘āpnuyām’ means may attain, may reach, or may achieve.
