अश्रद्दधानाः पुरुषा धर्मस्यास्य परन्तप ।

अप्राप्य मां निवर्तन्ते मृत्युसंसारवर्त्मनि ॥

Meaning / Summary

આ શ્લોક શ્રદ્ધાના મહત્વ પર ભાર મૂકે છે અને સમજાવે છે કે શ્રદ્ધા વિના આધ્યાત્મિક માર્ગ પર પ્રગતિ કરવી મુશ્કેલ છે.

હે પરંતપ અર્જુન, જે લોકો આ ધર્મમાં શ્રદ્ધા રાખતા નથી, તેઓ મને પામ્યા વિના મૃત્યુરૂપી સંસારના માર્ગ પર પાછા ફરે છે.

આ શ્લોકમાં ભગવાન શ્રીકૃષ્ણ અર્જુનને કહે છે કે જે મનુષ્યો શ્રદ્ધા અને ભક્તિથી આ દિવ્ય જ્ઞાન અને ધર્મને સ્વીકારતા નથી, તેઓ મને પ્રાપ્ત કરી શકતા નથી. તેઓ જન્મ અને મૃત્યુના ચક્રમાં ફસાયેલા રહે છે, અને સંસારના દુઃખો ભોગવતા રહે છે. ભગવાન અહીં ‘પરંતપ’ કહીને અર્જુનને સંબોધે છે, જેનો અર્થ થાય છે ‘શત્રુઓને તપાવનાર’. આ સંબોધન દ્વારા ભગવાન અર્જુનને પોતાના કર્તવ્યમાં દૃઢ રહેવાની પ્રેરણા આપે છે.

This verse emphasizes the importance of faith and explains that without faith, it is difficult to progress on the spiritual path.

O Arjuna, scorcher of enemies, those who are faithless in this Dharma do not attain Me and return to the path of mortal existence.

In this verse, Lord Krishna explains to Arjuna that individuals who lack faith in this Dharma (righteous path or divine knowledge) fail to reach Him and remain bound to the cycle of birth and death. They continue to traverse the path of mortal existence, experiencing the sorrows and sufferings of the material world. The term ‘Parantapa’ is used to address Arjuna, which means ‘one who scorches or subdues enemies.’ This address serves to encourage Arjuna to remain steadfast in his duty.
