संन्यासं कर्मणां कृष्ण पुनर्योगं च शंससि ।

यच्छ्रेय एतयोरेकं तन्मे ब्रूहि सुनिश्चितम् ॥

સંન્યાસં કર્મણાં કૃષ્ણ પુનર્યોગં ચ શંસસિ ।

યચ્છ્રેય એતયોરેકં તન્મે બ્રૂહિ સુનિશ્ચિતમ્ ॥

Meaning / Summary¶

આ શ્લોકમાં અર્જુન કર્મ સંન્યાસ અને કર્મ યોગ વચ્ચેના ભેદ વિશે ભગવાન કૃષ્ણ પાસેથી સ્પષ્ટતા માંગે છે, જે માનવ જીવનમાં કર્મના મહત્વને દર્શાવે છે.

અર્જુને કહ્યું: હે કૃષ્ણ, તમે ક્યારેક કર્મ સંન્યાસ (કર્મનો ત્યાગ)ની પ્રશંસા કરો છો, તો ક્યારેક કર્મ યોગ (કર્મ કરવાનું)નું વર્ણન કરો છો. આ બંનેમાંથી જે શ્રેષ્ઠ હોય તે મને નિશ્ચિત કરીને કહો.

અર્જુને કૃષ્ણને પૂછ્યું કે કર્મ સંન્યાસ અને કર્મ યોગમાંથી કયો માર્ગ શ્રેષ્ઠ છે તે જણાવો.

અર્જુન ભગવાન કૃષ્ણને પૂછે છે કે તમે એક બાજુ કર્મ સંન્યાસ એટલે કે બધાં કર્મોનો ત્યાગ કરવાની વાત કરો છો, અને બીજી બાજુ કર્મ યોગ એટલે કે નિષ્કામ ભાવથી કર્મો કરવાંની વાત કરો છો. આ બંને માર્ગોમાંથી કયો માર્ગ મારા માટે વધારે સારો છે તે મને ચોક્કસાઈથી જણાવો.

This verse highlights Arjuna’s confusion regarding the two paths of renunciation and action, seeking clarification from Krishna on which path is more beneficial, emphasizing the importance of karma in human life.

Arjuna said: O Krishna, sometimes you praise renunciation of actions, and sometimes you recommend performance of action with detachment. Please tell me definitely which one of these two is more beneficial.

Arjuna asks Krishna to clarify which path, renunciation or action, is superior.

Arjuna is asking Lord Krishna for clarification. He points out that Krishna sometimes speaks highly of Sannyasa, the renunciation of all actions, and other times praises Karma Yoga, the path of performing actions with detachment and without attachment to the results. Arjuna is confused and asks Krishna to definitively tell him which of these two paths is ultimately better for him.

અર્જુન નામનો અર્થ થાય છે ‘સફેદ’ અથવા ‘ચળકતો’. તે પાંડવોમાંનો એક છે અને ભગવાન કૃષ્ણનો મિત્ર અને શિષ્ય છે. આ શ્લોકમાં તે ભગવાન કૃષ્ણને પ્રશ્ન પૂછે છે.		Arjuna, meaning ‘white’ or ‘bright’, is one of the Pandavas and a friend and disciple of Lord Krishna. He is the speaker in this verse, posing the question to Krishna.

Meaning¶

હે કૃષ્ણ, તમે કર્મ સંન્યાસ (કર્મનો ત્યાગ) અને કર્મ યોગ (કર્મ કરવાનું) બંનેની પ્રશંસા કરો છો.

O Krishna, you praise both renunciation of actions and performance of action with detachment.

संन्यासं	સંન્યાસં		sannyāsaṁ
સંન્યાસ એટલે ત્યાગ. અહીં કર્મ સંન્યાસ એટલે કર્મોનો ત્યાગ.		Renunciation, abandonment; here, the renunciation of actions.
कर्मणां	કર્મણાં		karmaṇāṁ
કર્મોનો ક્રિયાઓ, કર્તવ્યો		of actions Of actions, duties.
