कुतस्त्वा कश्मलमिदं विषमे समुपस्थितम् ।
अनार्यजुष्टमस्वर्ग्यमकीर्तिकरमर्जुन ॥

કુતસ્ત્વા કશ્મલમિદં વિષમે સમુપસ્થિતમ્ ।
અનાર્યજુષ્ટમસ્વર્ગ્યમકીર્તિકરમર્જુન ॥

Meaning / Summary¶
આ શ્લોક કર્તવ્ય અને મોહ વચ્ચેના સંઘર્ષને દર્શાવે છે. ભગવાન શ્રીકૃષ્ણ અર્જુનને તેના કર્તવ્યનું ભાન કરાવે છે અને તેને મોહ છોડીને યુદ્ધ કરવા માટે પ્રેરિત કરે છે. તે શીખવે છે કે મુશ્કેલ પરિસ્થિતિઓમાં વ્યક્તિએ પોતાના ધર્મ અને કર્તવ્યને વળગી રહેવું જોઈએ.
શ્રી ભગવાને કહ્યું: હે અર્જુન, આ સંકટ સમયે તને આ મોહ ક્યાંથી આવ્યો? આ તો આર્યોને શોભે તેવું નથી, સ્વર્ગ અપાવે તેવું નથી, અને કીર્તિ કરનાર પણ નથી.
ભગવાન શ્રીકૃષ્ણ અર્જુનને કહે છે કે આ મુશ્કેલ સમયમાં તને આ મોહ ક્યાંથી આવ્યો? આ વર્તન શ્રેષ્ઠ માણસોને શોભે તેવું નથી, સ્વર્ગ અપાવે તેવું નથી અને કીર્તિ પણ નથી અપાવતું.
આ શ્લોકમાં ભગવાન શ્રીકૃષ્ણ અર્જુનને તેના મોહ અને નિરાશા પર આશ્ચર્ય વ્યક્ત કરે છે. તેઓ કહે છે કે આ સમયે અર્જુન જે રીતે વર્તી રહ્યો છે તે આર્યો એટલે કે સજ્જનોને શોભતું નથી. વળી, આ વર્તન સ્વર્ગની પ્રાપ્તિમાં પણ મદદરૂપ નથી થતું અને તેનાથી કીર્તિ પણ મળતી નથી. ભગવાન અર્જુનને પોતાના કર્તવ્યનું ભાન કરાવે છે અને તેને આ મોહમાંથી બહાર નીકળી યુદ્ધ કરવા માટે પ્રેરિત કરે છે.
This verse illustrates the conflict between duty and delusion. Lord Krishna reminds Arjuna of his duty and inspires him to abandon delusion and fight the war. It teaches that in difficult situations, one should adhere to their dharma and duty.
The Supreme Lord said: O Arjuna, how has this delusion overcome you in this hour of crisis? It is not befitting a noble person, nor does it lead to heaven, nor does it bring fame.
Lord Krishna tells Arjuna, how has this delusion overcome you at this difficult time? This behavior is not befitting of noble people, does not lead to heaven, and does not bring fame.
In this verse, Lord Krishna expresses his surprise at Arjuna’s delusion and despair. He says that Arjuna’s behavior at this time is not befitting of a noble person (Arya). Furthermore, this behavior does not help in attaining heaven, nor does it bring fame. The Lord reminds Arjuna of his duty and inspires him to come out of this delusion and fight the war.

આ તો આર્યોને શોભે તેવું નથી, સ્વર્ગ અપાવે તેવું નથી, અને કીર્તિ કરનાર પણ નથી, હે અર્જુન.
