Meaning / Summary

This verse emphasizes the importance of true knowledge for attaining liberation. It highlights that the knowledge Lord Krishna is about to impart is superior to all other forms of knowledge and has the power to lead individuals to the highest state of perfection. This sets the stage for the detailed discussion of the three modes of material nature (gunas) in the subsequent verses.

The Supreme Lord said: I shall further expound the highest wisdom, the best of all knowledge, by knowing which all the sages have attained supreme perfection after transcending this material world.

Lord Krishna tells Arjuna that he will explain the best knowledge, by knowing which sages have attained supreme perfection after leaving the material world.

The Supreme Lord, Krishna, continues to impart profound knowledge to Arjuna. In this verse, He declares His intention to reveal the most supreme form of knowledge, the best among all forms of wisdom. He emphasizes that the sages (Munis) who have truly understood this knowledge have been able to transcend the limitations of the material world and achieve the ultimate state of perfection or liberation.
