न मे विदुः सुरगणाः प्रभवं न महर्षयः ।
अहमादिर्हि देवानां महर्षीणां च सर्वशः ॥

na me viduḥ suragaṇāḥ prabhavaṁ na maharṣayaḥ।
aham ādir hi devānāṁ maharṣīṇāṁ ca sarvaśaḥ॥

Meaning / Summary¶
This verse emphasizes the supreme position of Krishna as the origin of everything, including the gods and sages. It highlights the limitations of even the most enlightened beings in fully comprehending the Supreme Being. It establishes Krishna as the ultimate reality from which all else emanates.
Neither the hosts of gods nor the great sages know My origin, for in every way, I am the source of all the gods and sages.
Neither the gods nor the great sages know Krishna’s origin because He is the origin of them all.
This verse explains that even the celestial beings (gods) and the great sages (rishis) are unable to comprehend the true nature and origin of Krishna (the Supreme Being). This is because Krishna is the very source from which they originate. He is the আদি (Adi), meaning the beginning or the origin, of both the gods and the sages. Their knowledge and powers are derived from Him, and therefore, they cannot fully grasp His limitless nature.
