भूय एव महाबाहो शृणु मे परमं वचः ।
यत्तेऽहं प्रीयमाणाय वक्ष्यामि हितकाम्यया ॥

bhūya eva mahā-bāho śṛṇu me paramaṁ vacaḥ ।
yat te ’haṁ prīyamāṇāya vakṣyāmi hita-kāmyayā ॥

Meaning / Summary¶
This shloka emphasizes the importance of repeated learning and the role of a teacher’s affection in imparting knowledge. It sets the stage for further revelations of Krishna’s divine nature and glories.
The Supreme Lord said: O mighty-armed Arjuna, listen again to My supreme word, which I shall speak to you for your benefit and because you are dear to Me.
Lord Krishna tells Arjuna to listen again to his supreme teachings, spoken for Arjuna’s benefit and out of affection.
Shri Krishna continues to reveal his divine glories to Arjuna. He begins by asking Arjuna to listen again to his profound teachings. The repetition emphasizes the importance of these teachings and Arjuna’s capacity to grasp them. The Lord states that he is speaking out of affection and a desire for Arjuna’s well-being. This highlights the personal and intimate relationship between the teacher (Krishna) and the disciple (Arjuna), emphasizing that true knowledge is often shared out of love and concern.
